davieG Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 the automatic places or the playoffs. I reckon all but two, Brighton and Crewe will believe this; Norwich Crystal Palace Southampton Ipswich Derby Preston Reading Sheffield United Wolves Millwall QPR Stoke Burnley Leeds Leicester Cardiff Plymouth Watford Coventry Brighton Crewe Luton Hull Sheffield Wednesday This is going to be one tough season coming up - Anyone disagree with that?
Katy Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 I dont disagree, we will do well to reach the play-offs I reckon.
Anish Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 Disagree - I don't think teams like: Cardiff Watford Luton Sheff Wednesday Hull Burnley genuinely harbour aspirations to reach the playoffs. Any team that gets promoted to the Championship should be grateful to survive in this league, let alone make the playoffs.
Katy Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 i do think wednesday and hull will fancy their chances 117422 Hull have the funds to strengthen as do Sheff Weds.
Simon Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 I dont think: Luton Millwall (gonna suffer now) Stoke Brighton Crewe Cardiff Coventry Plymouth Possibly Watford, Burnley and QPR (the league will be better than last season). Will be all that near, but as for everyone else I think they're in with a shout.
kenny Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 This will be a tough season with: Ipswich, Preston, Wolves, Crystal Palace, Norwich, QPR, Reading, Sheff Utd, Derby, Southampton, Stoke, Leeds. All potentially capable of finishing in the top 2 spots IMO. This is assuming they all build on last seasons success they gained. Next season will be quite considerably harder than last.
shen Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 This will be a tough season with:Ipswich, Preston, Wolves, Crystal Palace, Norwich, QPR, Reading, Sheff Utd, Derby, Southampton, Stoke, Leeds. Next season will be quite considerably harder than last. 117435 QPR, Reading, Stoke, Sheff Utd or Leeds in the top 2?! You're having a laugh, surely!

This league isnt necessarily about the team with the best squad, but the most consistent, organised and most fortunate team with regard to injuries to key players.

It would take a miraculous improvement for any of those teams to challenge for auto promotion. Let's not make this league sound any harder than it really is!
Steven Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 the automatic places or the playoffs. I reckon all but two, Brighton and Crewe will believe this;Norwich Crystal Palace Southampton Ipswich Derby Leeds Leicester This is going to be one tough season coming up - Anyone disagree with that? 117401 It will be out of those Clubs with Wolves and Sheff U trying to get in.

Also Wigan aren't much without their 2 strikers, theres no reason why any one of those teams couldnt find themselves in that position next season.
Newcastle_Fox Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 The league is wide open, you just need a consistent team that produces consistent good league results and you will be up there. Its anyones for the taking.
TrickyTrev Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 I think all of these clubs would be dissapointed if they were not inthe play offs next season. Obviously there is the possibility of other clubs having a great season and joining the promotion race. Its going to be a avery tough division next season in comparison to this year where the standard has been ordinary at best. Nowich Southampton Palace Derby Preston Leeds Ipswich Leicester Leeds Hull Sheffield Utd Reading Wolves
hinds12 Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 i agree that this league will be the strongest that it has ever been. A tough season is ahead folks, but i do believe that we are heading in the rite direction
Muz Posted 31 May 2005 Posted 31 May 2005 i do think wednesday and hull will fancy their chances 117422 Hull have the funds to strengthen as do Sheff Weds. 117423 Hull deffo have the Funds. But Wednesday are still in a Financial mess. The Sheffield Star ( think it was that paper ) a couple of weeks ago had an interview with Sturrock. He was talking about how much they needed promotion for there Clubs financial benefit. Wednesday are in no position to be chucking the cash around willy nilly. Obvisouly going up through the playoffs help alot. But they defanaitly have not got the funds to make a realistic promotion challenge this season.

I seriously doubt any of the promoted teams will be anywhere near the playoffs next season - come the end of May.
supedaj Posted 31 May 2005 Posted 31 May 2005 yes i agree with that. They will fancy their chances given the funds but it wont be as easy as some might say. Its a fair jump from div 1 to championship
