Bullshit. A manager is a manager, he picks who he wants, it's a squad game.

If the club think he's jeopardizing their chances of success then it's on them to fire him. If the FA can prove any money was taken for it then fair enough, punish the club, but I think we all know it was just a bit of squad roatation.

Pathetic.

Ridiculous. What next, a fine for not spending sufficiently in the transfer window? It is perfectly reasonable for a team of limited means to rotate their squad to prioritise a particular game. No different from a top team resting players for the carling cup. The betting line is also crap, as teams are available well before kick off should you be serious about betting.

The FA should, as usual, be ashamed of themselves.

Just for clarification he's been fined by the Premier League not the FA.

Them too!!! (what you want me to read the story???)

If it had been just you Jon I wouldn't have botheredtongue.png

Play who you want.Who is to say that these fringe players have not been superb in training for weeks. They dont know this. You have your 25 players pick them.

Someone who has been on loan from WBA to us, on paper and track record looks better than say Waghorn. We all know this to be rubbish!Case closed.

Fining somebody for putting out a team consisting of players deemed good enough for the PL's "25-man squad" laws is absolutely fvcking ridiculous. Even if I do think Holloway's a cvnt, the guy has a squad of 25 players and so should be entitled to play any combination of that 25 he sees fit. It's no business of any other manager, the PL, the FA or otherwise. Absolute nonsense.

Too right. I have literally no idea where they are going with this. After recently introducing the 25-man squad rule they have the audacity to say a starting 11 is not strong enough. Complete farce, that effectively (from a simplistic pov) states that 14 men are strong enough for the team's starting 11. As someone else mentioned, where do they begin the cut off? Absolute joke, as per with most things the PL and FA come up with. Appoint Sepp when he 'stands down'.

Ollie's upset a lot of Blackpool fans today with his comments regarding the Oystons.

In short......

Blackpool's financial accounts for the 2010-11 campaign, filed in the past 48 hours and relating to their first season in the top flight for 39 years, reveal that one of Blackpool's six directors was paid a staggering £11 million in remuneration for the season that ended with the club's relegation back to the Championship.

And the unnamed director, paid through his company, Zabaxe, was the chairman's father, Blackpool's multi-millionaire majority shareholder, Owen Oyston.

On top of the £11m in 2010-11, it seems that Owen Oyston has also been paid £6.5m by Blackpool FC for some land he bought from the club for £650,000 some years ago.

'Of this £6.5m, a sum of £4,899,000 was paid by the club to Oyston in the 2010-11 financial year, and the balance by 30 August 2011.

Crudely, and not taking into account any management or development costs, it seems Oyston has made just shy of £6m profit from Blackpool FC on that land deal. Together with his £11m, that makes £17m from the relegation year to Oyston.

A wide range of other Oyston companies do business with Blackpool and the club’s parent company, Segesta, and a variety of payments pass back and forwards between them.

The fans in the main are fuming and Ollie comes out on the radio and says

"Some people say that some money has gone out of the club, well who gives a monkey's? If people dont like it then stop coming. I just dont understand it really, why should he spend it on players that might not be any good".

A stark contrast to the moaning he was doing because he didn't have money to sign the players he wanted.

This is the same Holloway who thinks there's nothing wrong with football managers taking a cut of player profits too though. Seems like he's one that's quite happy to take a cut out of the club wherever possible so I'm sure he doesn't see what's wrong with these deals. In fact he's probably getting his little back-handers from this guy anyway so I wouldn't expect him to express any negative opinion towards him.

It really pissed me off hearing him spout his bullcrap about manager's being entitled to some of the money made from player sales like he did during the Redknapp trial. Yes, a manager might have a great influence on that players career, buy him for nothing and sell him for vast amounts more when he's a better player. But whose money is that purchase made with? Not their personal fortune, the club's money. The club fronts the money to buy the player and as with any risk-reward decision should reap the reward should there be any. Not the guy who's being paid to make those decisions, who's being paid to do what's in the best interest of his club.

By the same token, should manager's pay money to the club every time they sign a dud with little or no re-sale value?! Of course not. Peter Taylor would be paying us until his dying day if that were the case. Unfortunately, I know it's probably one of those aspects of the game that happens and is brushed under the carpet. I'd hate to think Pearson was taking money out of the club for anyone sold. The difference is that, even if he was, he's not stupid enough to shout about it like Holloway.
