Ricey Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Sven has just confirmed, Martyn Waghorn WILL NOT be joining Derby County on loan tomorrow or until he knows about Vassell's injury. ...still means he's no doubt off once Vassell is fit though.
Wycombe Fox Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Sven just said on Radio Leics to Stringer! Until they know what the situation is with Vassell he's not going anywhere! (That's just as worrying though as how long do they expect Vassell to be out for!?!?) From Ian Stringer's Twiiter; Sven has just confirmed, Martyn Waghorn WILL NOT be joining Derby County on loan tomorrow or until he knows about Vassell's injury. So if Sven finds out tomorrow that Vassell will be available for the Millwall game, Waghorn will be going to Derby on loan tomorrow?
funkyrobot Posted 22 January 2011 Posted 22 January 2011 I still can't see any logic in loaning out a striker to a local playoff rival. It would've never happened in the past. Waggy will be needed. There's no way that Yak or Vas will get through the season without being injured. Both have had lengthy injury spells in the past. If Derby do well with him, it'll be sickeningly true that we at City have helped them by giving them a potentially top striker!

Thracian Posted 22 January 2011 Posted 22 January 2011 With both Yakubu and Vassell being injury prone, Waghorn could be important to us and I really don't see why Sven seems so blinkered about him. To the eye Waghorn has serious limitations as a striker. But his record with us reads well enough to suggest he's worth 20 goals a season given the chance. Howard's never going to be worth that again and there's nothing to suggest Vassell or Yakubu will be fit enough for that sort of return either. What it does suggest is that Sven - or his bosses - would rather rely on "names" than make something more of the decent raw material that Waghorn represents. Me I think Waghorn is playing to about 30% of his potential whereas Yakubu and Vassell are probably past their peak. I'd want to get the other 70% out of Waghorn. And his goals record so far suggests he's well worth the risk.
jamesmilner Posted 22 January 2011 Posted 22 January 2011 waghorn since his tranfer to us has swaggered about the training camp , drove round in his big new 4x4 like chris eubank , talked like a premiership winner , hes stuck up his own bum . thats why he is not playing , got his contract to keep him financially secure and now hasn't put the right effort in . i think the word IMMATURE comes into play .
Shrenchel Posted 22 January 2011 Posted 22 January 2011 He drives a big car?!? Derby are welcome to him the cvnt.
