HAS SVEN LOST THE PLOT ??????????? so waghorn wants first team football and he has a chance of that at a team where he wouldn't have to find his third home in two years... Yeah silly waghorn... what is he thinking...
Zingari Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 waghorn sounds like a breed of sheep Derby close in on Leicester striker Martyn Waghorn http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/derby_county/9365202.stm
wellyfox Posted 18 January 2011 Author Posted 18 January 2011 I am not saying Waggy is wrong if he wants football. More from our point of view and not cos its the sheep. But cos its a club competing with us in the League.
Christoph Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 waghorn sounds like a breed of sheep I agree. I quite like a leg of lamb also. Infact what is everyones favourite meat?
Matt Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Personally I wouldn't have loaned him out to anyone in this league let alone Derby, I would have loaned him to a League One club, purely to get his confidence up, I think confidence is his problem and he is lacking in it, which is why he isn't at his best for us, It may be the case that no-one in League One has enquired for him, or they can't afford to pay X amount of his wages, or perhaps Sven thinks loaning him out at this level may be best for him, who am I to judge, but I just hope he comes back decent for us, something needs to change with him though because he's a different player to last season, I didn't expect him to come in an be on fire or even be as good as last season but I did expect him to be alot better than he has been. Another thing that goes against him is his price tag - I think it has spoilt him, He is trying to hard to be the £3m player, In reality he isn't a £3m player.
wellyfox Posted 18 January 2011 Author Posted 18 January 2011 I agree. I quite like a leg of lamb also. Infact what is everyones favourite meat? BIG FAT RUMP STEAK
cambridgefox Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 I agree. I quite like a leg of lamb also. Infact what is everyones favourite meat? Lamb for me! Are you taking orders?
Hammster Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Are we allowing special recipes for this Meat? Coz I could murder some Southern Fried Chicken right now.

Jackirius Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 What Waghorn has been linked with a move away for about a week now and no thread, wow im surprised nobody has picked up on it until now.
FoxyPV Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 I agree. I quite like a leg of lamb also. Infact what is everyones favourite meat? Vegetarian. (Insert standard anti meat eating remark)
cc_star Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Personally I wouldn't have loaned him out to anyone in this league let alone Derby, I would have loaned him to a League One club, purely to get his confidence up, I think confidence is his problem and he is lacking in it, which is why he isn't at his best for us, It may be the case that no-one in League One has enquired for him, or they can't afford to pay X amount of his wages, or perhaps Sven thinks loaning him out at this level may be best for him, who am I to judge, but I just hope he comes back decent for us, something needs to change with him though because he's a different player to last season, I didn't expect him to come in an be on fire or even be as good as last season but I did expect him to be alot better than he has been. Another thing that goes against him is his price tag - I think it has spoilt him, He is trying to hard to be the £3m player, In reality he isn't a £3m player. Firstly, he was £2m As a 20 year old who scored 12 league goals from 27 starts (1 in 2.25) in a team which hardly created chances last year, it's difficult to see him costing less than the £2m the way things currently go. Secondly, how do we know what his confidence is like - Sven hasn't played him. How do we know what his form is like, Sven hasn't played him. How do we know he's performing different to last season, Sven hasn't played him. I'm not saying play him ahead of Vassell at all as Vassell is obviously doing what Sven asks of him, but his departure weakens our squad and strengthens a rivals squad. Bizarre. For him as an individual going out on loan is the best thing that can happen to him, but even if he only appeared as a sub (Vassell hardly ever completes 90mins) weakening our squad for a long & difficult run-in is madness. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that Vassell will pick up another niggle. This has come at the same time as two irons in the fire (Parker & Henry) have failed. Bad decision for our squad is bad.

Salieri Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Strange decision. We need competition for places and we are not particularly blessed up front.
Salieri Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 If we have to loan a striker out, make it Howard and not Waggy ffs.
Fox1651 Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Silly to let Waggy go on loan when our alternative up front is that useless lump Howard
NorthernFox Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 hope he did enough to make sven think again. I think he did, looked sharp, enthusiastic, not prem standard yet but definately not for loaning to the immediate opposition.
sdb Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 He's just said HE ISN'T GOING! where'd you hear that? and who said so? Waggy or Sven?
Captain... Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 If Sven isn't going to play Waghorn then he might as well go out on loan. If we are going to play one up front, the current pecking order is Yakubu, Vassell, Howard, Waghorn. It would require 3 players to be out of contention for one reason or another for Waghorn to get a game. What would push me over the edge if I was Waghorn is that Howard is being picked ahead of him, I am beginning to think that Sven actually meant it when he compared Howard to the Vieri of the Championship, his goal scoring record of recent years is more comparable to Viera. The fact that today Moussa came on as the wide striker ahead of him when Gally was injured then bringing on Oakley for Wellens instead of playing Moussa in his preferred central role and finally bringing on Waggy with very little time left is probably not going to make him think his short term future is here. The truth is Howard can't play up front on his own in 451 433 formation. For it to work it needs mobility, it needs a lot of good movement by the central striker to allow the wider players space to come in on their stronger foot (if we continue with Dyer on the right and Gally on the left). If not you have Howard standing in the middle and Dyer and Gally cutting in to the space that Howard and the 2 centre backs are taking up. Howard needs to be on the bench to come on to play with the central striker not instead of. In all other cases we should be bringing on Waghorn. With Gallagher and Vassell doubts for Saturday it will be very telling to see what line up Sven goes with and if Waghorn has any sort of future here.
AmyLGK Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 where'd you hear that? and who said so? Waggy or Sven? Sven just said on Radio Leics to Stringer! Until they know what the situation is with Vassell he's not going anywhere! (That's just as worrying though as how long do they expect Vassell to be out for!?!?)
Ajax Treesdown Posted 18 January 2011 Posted 18 January 2011 Sven has just confirmed, Martyn Waghorn WILL NOT be joining Derby County on loan tomorrow or until he knows about Vassell's injury. ## STRINGERS TWITTER
