I must say I can not believe that a club the size of Leicester with its loyal fantastic support can employ such morons, idiots call them what you like as stewards. What does it matter if you switch to other unoccupied seats during the game to create a bit of atmosphere! Surely its a good thing if all those wanting to sing and create noise are all together, it also might help bring some of the boring gits into life and make the place the fortress it should and could be! The people involved in this ridiculous banning of the silver fox (Baz) need to sit down in a dark room and have a strong word with themselves, unless I'm bling to the situation no crime has been committed just some tosser steward who didnt even get to his feet once on Saturday being a complete jobsworth. If we are not careful, the club will become a sunday school or even worse like the egg chasing ground over the road where everyone sits in silence and has a polite clap at a stunning bit of play! So I urge everyone who knows Baz whether out of choice like most or like me (I have no choice I have to know him) to stand up and be counted and maybe even play a bit of musical chairs to shove one up the clowns who police our ground! I'm still struggling to understand how and why that warrants a 5 game ban, pro footballers f and blind at referees in full view of tv cameras watched by millions and get a 3 game ban perhaps 10% fine of there astronomical wages, yet a supporter who loves his team like Baz gets a 5 game ban out of a 23 game season ticket over 20% of his £300+ stake. Put it this way: you're told to enforce stadium and H&S rules. You know someone has moved from their allocated seat to another. What do you do? a) ignore it b) stop it? In any other job, you have to follow the rules and requirements of that job. It may seem petty and trivial, but what do you want them to do? Its an unallocated seat, so what? It means that anyone, even 'Baz' could have got a ticket there. He could have moved his season ticket or whatever, but when you enter the ground, you submit to the rules and regs of the ground. Its pretty simple. You're more than welcome to go and stand at the edge of L or whatever and police a load of Millwall pouring across the segregated area, but somehow I don't think you would. Stewards get a tough break - they turn up in the freezing cold and just do their fooking jobs and its people like you who think they have a divine right to sit or stand wherever they like, just because they paid their money to get it, that makes their job so bloody difficult. (I'm well aware I'm gonna get a lot of shit for this and probably be called a prawn-muncher and all that. Well you can shove yer prawns up yer arse! )

A jobsworth is someone who doesn't have the intelligence to have a flexible understanding of the guidelines they have been given. A Steward's job is to ensure the safety of the supporters. They are not Health and Safety inspectors and they are not there to worry about the club's compliance with every piece of H & S regulation. That is way above and beyond their station and it takes a real jumped up little dickhead to pointlessly cause trouble for a Leicester fan just because they have slightly and harmlessly deviated from the official H & S code of the stadium and then hide behind the pathetic 'I'm just doing my job' line.

So, if someone moves in to the area who shouldn't be there they are going to want to get rid. Either that or they really have it in for the lot of you. Would like to know the full conversations that took place as we all know these threads have been heavily weighted in the past with people exaggerating what happened in their favour. Was the ban for a) moving seats b) refusing to move to back to their allocated seat when asked or c) giving out a load of verbals to the stewards asking them to move. If A it's out of order, if B or C then they only have themselves to blame.

People have allocated seats in case of crowd disturbances, that way police can match up CCTV pictures against allocated seat names. Might not come under H&S but they are the rules.

Feel free to shoot me down, but in my opinion we live in a society that is too health & safety conscious where rules are employed over the use of common sense in too many cases. However, I think that stewards are often made scapegoats in cases like these. I didn't see the actual incident unfold in this particular case & I am well aware that some stewards can be unhelpful and over the top but, in most cases, they are only following the instructions given to them from their superiors. As such, I think that people should cut the stewards a bit of slack and direct their anger towards those a little higher up; those who actually make the decisions. Even then, heads of matchday stewarding and the health & safety officer at the club are no doubt operating under a lot of pressure not to let the slightest thing go wrong due to the blame culture & health & safety obsession that exists in this country today. But sadly, in my opinion, a lot of people seem to want to settle for the rules that are already in place or have resigned themselves to a 'things will never change so why bother trying' kind of attitude. I would also encourage Baz to take this up with the FSF. The more ridiculous decisions like this that go unchallenged, the further this health & safety culture may continue to erode some of the best parts of the matchday experience at football grounds in this country. Pretty much every steward i know do their job under specific orders from their manager, who have have their orders from the next guy up the pyramid, etc. Me personally, i would allow some sensible give and take in regards to people moving seats, particularly if there is a shitload of empty seats. But, while it is petty, its really not that fooking difficult to move your season ticket to wherever it is you want to sit each game. While i don't agree with a 5 game banning, or even a 1 game banning. If this guy persistently sat in the wrong seat after weeks of being asked to stay in his own allocated seats for a while then at some point the 'higher ups' are going to take action. From a stewards point of view, this guy is constantly in the wrong place. Standing up. And possibly giving verbals/grief to the stewards who see him each game. There's three or four regulalations being broken there...
AndyBrew Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 I couldn't believe this when I heard it, but then I'm hardly surprised, I doubt this was instigated by the steward they were just following Mr Barclays orders as far as I can see there is an orchestrated plan to prevent the Fosse Boys increasing in numbers, and I think some old heads starting to appear in the mix is a threat to this plan, purely because at the minute the Fosse Boys are viewed as a bunch of kids (rightly or wrongly) and the vast majority of Leicester supporters are indifferent to them, a significant number genuinely appear to dislike the group for reasons only known to them, however a few older kopites appearing in the mix might just start to persuade a few more to join in and that would never do

That only applies to ST holders, when you buy a matchday ticket with cash they have no idea who you are, so that's a bit of a myth unless of course it's only ST holders that are deemed untrustworthy

Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 Reading one of the other comments about this on a different thread, I got the impression that Baz had been asked to move back to his seat a few times before having an argument/heated discussion and being kicked out. Reading this thread I get the impression Baz has a bit of history as a Koppite and is known to the officials for past misdemeanors, I may be wrong on this I'm just reading between the lines. I agree with Babylon that if he was banned for moving seats it's a ridiculous but if he refused to move back or gave the steward a mouthful he does have to blame himself. I have moved seats before at a match to get a better view and one time to be warmer, but if a steward had asked me to move back to my allocated seat I would have done and that would have been the end of it, unless my view was obstructed in the original seat and I had paid full price (ah the days of stretching to see round the supporting columns at filbert street) but I can only assume there was nothing wrong with his original seat. I do think the length of the ban is harsh, five games is a lot of money and unless he seriously insulted or has previous form for this kind of behaviour I think it is ridiculous that stewards have that kind of power. Ejection from the ground and making a note of his behaviour for any future offenses would have been fair in my opinion.

Basically pounced on by 8-10 stewards who surrounded him as he walked around the outside of the ground, had police shadowing also. I assumed he was the Bristol murderer or the Ripper had escaped, Not the youngest of blokes and well presenrted, didn't react or cause a problem, may have a bit of form in the past, guess he made the stewards look like dicks and they hit him like a pack of animals. Massive overkill

It is against ground regulations to move to a seat you are not allocated without permission from the club, so Baz was in the wrong. However he was not the only one who was sat in the wrong seat at that match and had moved to the same position for the second half for a few games without any issues. The big issue is that the ban seems eryharsh under the circumstances and he was refused any opportunity to put forward any of his views at a hearing. Andy Brew makes some good points and it would appear the over zealous approach may be related to the growth of the Fosse Boys numbers. I do not have all the facts so could not be totally sure but it looks like it's A. Hopefully on his return he will move to the Fosse Boys area officially and his friends will too thus backfiring on any move to limit the Fosse Boys numbers.
