Webbo Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 It depends what you think of as British I suppose. I think of the Celtic and Pictish peoples as being British. Ireland is part of the British Isles. It's not part of Great Britain or the UK. It's like Portugeuse and Spainish arguing over who's Iberian. The English are the Johnny-come-latelys on these Islands. I've said it before, but the Italians were here before us. Are they British? Your argument only works if you assume that all English are pure bred Anglo Saxon. The fact is that we've probably all got a bit of Celt, Roman, Viking , Norman etc mixed in there as well.
Christoph Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Different culture to ours, while some of them can be ****s (like any others), surely we have to respect other peoples culture? Maybe i'm just being too liberal
Phube Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 There is no such people as Celts! Read it in the General book of Ignorance. The term was coined on 21 June 1792!
purpleronnie Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Because they're nearly always from the Republic I just wondered why he was disgusted.
Zingari Posted 28 January 2011 Posted 28 January 2011 This is stereotyping of a community by the media at its very worst In reality the Diddcoy are far more base and degenerate than this weak, romanticized and sanitised portrayal . There is absolutely no mention either that these lavish ceremonies are undoubtedly funded by nicking church roof lead , manhole/drain covers , cable reels , etc from the roadside and melting them down for scrap . ps , i am joking
FoxyPV Posted 28 January 2011 Posted 28 January 2011 Irish Republic is still British. I'd argue that they are more British than the English. Yep. Definitely, that's why they fought a war of independence.
