anotherharboroughfox Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 For me yes, interested to hear other peoples thoughts.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Sky killed football. thats why i refuse to have it!
gazfox9 Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Its getting to the point where you think it can't be long til the bottom drops out, 35million for Carroll is just crazy crazy money.
acooling08 Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 FIFA ruined football, or at least are trying to. Not allowed to take shirt off, yellow cards for running into fans, giving WC's to nobody's.

I admit though the government at the time helped ruin it by getting rid of terraces
Captain... Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 It is not really money that has ruined football, but greed, and the fact that the money injected by the Premiership and Sky and the increased revenue in sponsorship that sky exposure creates has not been passed on to the fans in terms of lower ticket prices, but instead onto agents and players earning more in a week than most in a year. Millions of pounds being bandied about for average players. This is obscene. The ironic thing is that it has had the opposite affect of sending clubs into administration and by pricing out the regular fans from seeing their local team, they destroyed a regular and loyal source of income. I never heard of clubs going into administration and bankrupcy before Sky got involved.

I also think without sky the 'big four' or whatever name theyre branded with by sky would have far fewer 'fans'/armchair supporters/plastic fans etc
anotherharboroughfox Posted 31 January 2011 Author Posted 31 January 2011 this is a prime example of sky fvcking around http://www.fsf.org.uk/news/TV-plays-havoc-with-Chelsea-fans-travel-plans.php?id=
Drift Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Premiership - Best league in the world. Yeah it's ruined it. I agree that the transfer fees and wages are getting a bit out of hand, but come on, we're spoilt with good football in this country.
dave the caveman Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 I love reading opinions from armchair economists. Gives me a rare boost in self esteem.
LCFCmatt Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Sky killed football. thats why i refuse to have it! just coz you cant afford it

I agree that the transfer fees and wages are getting a bit out of hand, but come on, we're spoilt with good football in this country. please explain. As we approach the last two hours of the transfer window, I can tell you English clubs have already broken the £100m barrier for transfer fees spent this month - and that's before the mooted deals for Fernando Torres, Andy Carroll and David Luiz are taken into consideration. Unbelievable. By way of comparison - just £29m was spent by English clubs this time last year. taken from the BBC transfer page, UNBELIEVABLE!
Captain... Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 this is a prime example of sky fvcking around http://www.fsf.org.uk/news/TV-plays-havoc-with-Chelsea-fans-travel-plans.php?id= To be honest it is Chelsea being greedy c nuts that has caused the problem. But what is really galling for many Chelsea supporters is that even if they can’t make away matches, they’re still forced to pay for a ticket. The Chelsea away season ticket scheme, to which many supporters have subscribed in order to ensure they get away tickets, has a blanket “no refunds” policy. Supporters must pay for a ticket for every Premier League away match, even those that they are unable to attend because of TV scheduling changes. such as re-arranged Monday evening fixtures away to Bolton and Blackpool. What the **** kind of away policy is that. Money is not the problem, it is greed, it is not like Chelsea can't afford to refund an away ticket or 2 especially when it is Sky's fault not the fans.
acooling08 Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 More so than sky do you think? All the money involved nowadays etc?? I admit though the government at the time helped ruin it by getting rid of terraces Correct. And yes Sky are nobs. Moving k/o times around is a right pain. But imo Fifas pansy EU rules are worse. Football used be a mans game.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 just coz you cant afford it No I can't! Wouldn't have it either way
Fosse Boy Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Correct. And yes Sky are nobs. Moving k/o times around is a right pain. But imo Fifas pansy EU rules are worse. Football used be a mans game. The hell have the EU got to do with owt?

Yes it is the fans being fvcked over by the club, because the club have agreed to sky for the money. So ultimately the blame rests with sky.

I agree that the transfer fees and wages are getting a bit out of hand, but come on, we're spoilt with good football in this country. And here lies the problem. Its not the best league in the world. It sounds like you've been listening to sky too much yourself!!
acooling08 Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 The hell have the EU got to do with owt? The french/spanish/italian style of football. Basically falling over all the time has became acceptable and refs now have to give fowls for **** all. FIFA rules started all this a while back
B52 Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 It's not the money... It's what people does with it. If you want to change it you have to be a politician and drag a lot of people with you. If you complain about the money and voted liberal/right you're pretty f****d up.

FIFA rules started all this a while back Whilst I completely agree with you, my original question still stands...
shailen Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 I think money has improved football. The calibre of players we see at clubs increases dramatically. Look at our squad for instance compared to last season. And i dont agree that you cant buy success, buying players for stupid money doesnt guarantee success. Just ask man city bout that, they on paper are miles above the rest in terms of squad, but their team doesnt play like a team like others.
