Fans leaving before the final whistle

Recommended Posts

I left Molineux early once when we were 3-1 down or something. If I hadn't, I wouldn't have got to see, and narrowly avoid, the various groups of pissed up nutters on the prowl outside the ground who either make themselves scarce when everyone else comes out or just get absorbed by the crowd. It was quite an eye opener

If that's the same day I'm thinking of I left early as well. What a shithole Molineux is.

It's the only place I've been where I've actually been concerned for my personal safety.

Well done, people of Wolverhampton

Would like to point out that if the score is 1-1 our 1-0 i will stay till the end as you never know what will happen

0-0, any other scoreline that has a single goal in it can change in an instant.

Can't ever bring myself to leave early, to be fair. Considering how much it costs to get into the fvcking games, I might as well stay 'til the end and "get my money's worth", so to speak. Even when we got mullered 5-1 away at Forest I stood there 'til the final whistle.

There have been many reasons for leaving early stated in this thread and yes of course sometimes you will have to leave early for time reasons, avoiding traffic, having to catch public transport or health reasons, with small children, old people or the disabled and wanting to avoid the scrum for the stairs.

There is no denying that sometimes some people need to leave early...

...but, there are always more people leaving early when we are 3-0 down than 3-0 up. The result is decided but in one case you are winning and in another you are losing, these people are the ones that piss me off, imagine if the players gave up that easily, in reality every goal counts and that +/- goal difference can be the difference between 1 place, between promotion or play offs, you pay your money to support the lads and you support them to the end, think of Arsenal 3-3 and the Villa 4-4, goals can be scored in seconds and what characterises the greatest teams is the ability to fight 'til the end, surely the fans should have the same spirit, the players see there own fans streaming out and they will pretty much give up, even one goal at the end can spur on a bit of confidence losing 3-1 is always better than losing 3-0. Then you never know what might happen, another goal and suddenly boom you are back in the game, we used to do it so many times, and to everyone who has missed a great comeback by leaving early because we were losing serves you right.

Hopefully you, even at a discounted rate £20 is a lot of money to not even see the whole game, I would be pissed off if I paid £20 and missed the winning goal, I know you can watch it again later but it is the buzz and the excitment and roar of the crowd and the goal music, and it is always so much sweeter in the last minute, and you only get to experience that once.

Anyway like I said up there serves you right, unless you had a good reason for doing so in which case unlucky

You should have told him to man up, he cost you a goal, not just any goal but a last minute match winning Waghorn goal, and they are rarer than rocking horse shit at the moment, I hope you gave him a good smack for it. ;)

Like I said up there, sometimes you gotta go, and if you miss a goal it's bad luck, it just seems like a lot more people have to leave when we are losing than winning, or those that hover near the exits in the last few minutes, like someone said in another post if you are going to go just go, don't stand around blocking people's view and obstructing the exits.
