Fans leaving before the final whistle

Recommended Posts

One of the guys near us always turns up late, normally 15 minutes or more. Goes in for half time between 30-35 mins. Comes out for the second half about 15 minutes in, and leaves with at least 10 minutes to go no matter what the score is.

Even weirder he spends 80% of his time with a fixed stare at the away fans.

...but yeah, never ever leave early, even if we're getting bum funned. It makes those last minute goals all that better.

Not everyone lives in Leicestershire (like myself).

Staying until the final whistle could add on journey time by hours. Who knows?

He sound exactly like a lad who used to sit near us in sk4 (quite a young bloke with dark hair??) anyway everyone used to groan when he turned up as you were constantly having to get up for him as he moved along the row! ...used to wonder what was wrong with him... He was nick named piss pants lol

Come to think of it we have nicknames for loads of people round us (funny how you see the same people every week & don't know their names!!) also around us we have:

Chav & Chav dad (for obvious reasons - the usual crime being fake Burberry caps & the like)

2 rolls (every game at half time he comes down from the back & eats 2 ham rolls made by his mate.

Jack (maker of 2 rolls lunch, so called jack as he jumps up out of his seat at any given almost always inappropriate opportunity to complain -like a jack in the box - & moans as soon as anyone else dares stand... Also known as jack the teat!)

Big ron (a giant of a fella, that looks just like big Ron from eastenders)

Little Ron (big tons comically small mate)

Tom cruise (a guy who seriously could not look any less like Tom cruise if he tried, his crime being a tad ugly!)

There are more but I imagine your wishing I would shut the fcuk up by now ....

Pipe down Scott of the Antarctic.

never have. never will.

10-0 up or 10-0 down.

Agreed, the last few minutes can and often are just as important as the other 90 odd.

Worst I've done is walk down the steps before the final whistle goes. I''ve left my seat early, but not the game.

Never some emergency then

I remember some years back the pa announcing

"would bill smith (can't remember name) please go to the royal infirmary after the match as your wife has gone into labour". Proper bird.

I don't leave early but gotta say I was considering it on Friday, I was abit annoyed at the 2nd half performance and reckon a point flattered us based on the 2nd half performance but I made myself stay and got rewarded! That's why I don't leave early.

Stupid!......... I watched dozens leave from the kop on friday night and miss our winner. Why??

Never leave early!

tbh i dont know what all the fuss is about??? Are they making you miss the game??

Sometimes, when people are leaving early around you and you have to get up and let them through, then yes you can miss part of the game.

Personally I'm in the never have and never will camp. So many goals are scored in the last minute, but also other things happen, whether it's a controversial refereeing decision, a red card, injury or just a good bit of skill, the chance to sing a few more songs with your mates or shout abuse at the opposition. You don't leave the cinema 10 minutes before the end, even though you know that Batman will save the world, it's the same with football. Even if the result is certain, live football is about so much more than that, otherwise you might as well just sit at home in front of ceefax and watch the results come in.

And block the aisle/stand in your way. The amount of people i've asked to move because they are in my way and they turn around as if i'm in the wrong.

I don't know whether it's a myth or not (maybe foxblogger can clear this up), but it's being said that most of the goals in football are scored from the 89th minute onwards.

All the smart arses who wait on the stairs for the last few minutes block the view for people on the aisle seats. Stay to the end or don't go.

Couldn't agree more.

The question is why do all of the stewards go down and sit around the pitch just before the game ends?

Surely it not too much to ask that one of them remains near the exit to ensure people do not block the aisle until the game is over.

There was nearly a punch up near where I sit last season because some twat was blocking the aisle and the bloke next to me couldn't see the corner that we were about to take.

If your going to leave early then GO.

they seem to be the same fans that go for a drink 5 mins before halftime and come back after the game has restarted , disturbing my enjoyment . not real football fans , dont really know what they are ?

I've only left early once and that was the 2-0 loss away at Millwall and that was because in the L1 season we were held back for an hour and we thought if we leave early we can at least avoid that although the city fans weren't held back this time or so I heard. I would never leave early when we're winning or if it's as tight as it was on Friday, I love clapping the players off after a good win or hard fought point.

All those "loyal supporters" who started filing out in the 87th minute made me furious, have the cheek to call yourself loyal, but not loyal enough to sacrifice 10 minutes of there evening.

I live in swindon and I still wait for the full time whistle...

Why do you care?

They pay there money for the ticket, surely they can come and go as they please.

Presumably if they left at 87mins they had taken at least 100mins out of their evening.

Don't understand why anybody leaves early,it takes 1 hour sometimes just to get to the m69 then followed by 6hrs drive home to st ives, would never leave early.

Bit harsh.

People obviously will have their reasons for leaving early. They pay their money just like you so can come and go as they please. If its an evening game i tend to start making my way down when the 4th official puts the board up, simply because i have to get up for work at stupid o clock in the morning and for me those extra minutes kip do make a difference. Doesnt make me disloyal to the club at all- have missed one home game all season due to being out of the country and missed the first two away games all season and derby last week.

With you living in swindon that extra half hour or so getting out of the ground probably makes no real difference but when a 10 minute drive home becomes an hour or so then to some people its worth leaving a few minutes early.

Sometime back in the late 80's we were 7-0 down @Hillsborough in the league cup

Then Bobby Davidson scored for us in the last few minutes

Our end went bonkers and it was just a great football moment

The Rooster scoring against Tranmere @ Filbert St and the 3-3 with the Ars are good examples of why you should see it out to the end.

That's why I would never leave early

Your not a real football fan if you try to beat the massive Que for a halftime drink?
