Dylan Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 If this is happening maybe tweet Stringer about it to pass on a message. One step ahead of you Asked Stringer if the club would let fans bring flags in etc, and he said he'll ask. Knew Twitter would come useful once
Houdini Logic Posted 15 March 2011 Posted 15 March 2011 Think this is a great gesture, though i'd urge anyone thinking of buying a flag off the internet to instead send their money to the Red Cross. I'm sure some red pen on a piece of paper or old t-shirt will achieve the same thing
lcfc"weasel" Posted 15 March 2011 Posted 15 March 2011 Should be all right getting a flag in, we've had huge surfer in the ground for the last couple of games without any issue.
bobbysmith Posted 15 March 2011 Posted 15 March 2011 Shame he didn't bury that shot at s***thorpe. Would have made his day.
Narborough_fox Posted 15 March 2011 Posted 15 March 2011 Any news on what the club think of this yet as I think it would be very nice touch and nice mark of respect to those who have been affected by the Quake and Tsunami.
MikeyT Posted 15 March 2011 Posted 15 March 2011 I may have said this several hundred times before, but i love Yuki.
Dylan Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 Stringer just tweeted me saying- 'you need to contact the club directly if you want to take a flag in'. Would that mean every single person wanting to take one in would need to contact the club?

Would that mean every single person wanting to take one in would need to contact the club? well mine arrived today but i wont be contacting the club, il just take it.. as someone pointed out seen the big one over at sk1 few times lately and away fans generally always have some so seems they are not being there usually stuck up about things at the moment..

True say. Try to advertise it if we can to get as many people as possible to bring one!
tomtom Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 I doubt anyone would stop you taking a flag in, if your that worried stick it under your jacket! Total respect for everyone doing this !!!!!
Houdini Logic Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 Think the club would need to sack their entire PR department if they try to stop people bringing in these flags
Berlinfox Posted 16 March 2011 Author Posted 16 March 2011 I am the guy who started this thread and I am so pleased that there has been such a positive response to the idea and that the momentum seems to be builidng up. I live in Germany so I won't be able to be there on Saturday but I will be listening to Ian Stringer and Alan Young through the club website. Thanks to everyone who has taken up the idea. Here is a link to a Japan flag that you can print out- Pinned to a t-shirt or held up - I am sure it will look good. http://unimaps.com/flags-asia/japan-print2.html
AlphaMaleFox Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 It would look brilliant, with "ABE" on the back ...
sphericalfox Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 I see Stringer washed his hands of the idea and didn't bother his arse asking! <_<
tomtom Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 Are there plans for a minutes silence like most midweek games? There should be but I'd hate it to be ruined by morons like the last one was
StanSP Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 I see Stringer washed his hands of the idea and didn't bother his arse asking! <_< You're getting on Stringer's back just for giving the above poster an answer you didn't want to hear? He's just advising correctly, anyway. It's not Stringer who's the one to make decisions regarding flags etc. And if you want to know the answer, ask the club, simple as that. Stringer can't answer just cos he might not know himself and doesn't want to get in trouble i.e. someone asks him, he says 'yeah, it's fine' and then you get it confiscated or whatever at the match due to H & S etc'. He's just covering his own back. Nothing wrong with that so no need to pin the blame or get worked up just cos Stringer isn't 100% perfect for you.
1964FOX Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 Got my flag today so will be holding it up in the SK1 area when the players come out. Hopefully there will be several around the ground, if anyone has a steward try to take it off you get a friend to video it, imagine how bad that would look if the press got hold of the footage of the club stopping people trying to pay their respect to a country in absolute turmoil.

Jake Shapiro Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 I would love to see one massive japan flag at walkers stadium
Berlinfox Posted 17 March 2011 Author Posted 17 March 2011 I have been in contact with the club and they fully support people bringing Japan flags to the stadium on Saturday, but would like to know where the flags (presumbly they are talking about larger flags, not A4 size peices of paper) will be. Here is as a copy of the emails to and from the club. Hello, I am a Foxes supporter living in Germany and I started a thread on the Foxes Talk forum suggesting that people bring Japan flags to the game on Saturday to show solidarity with the people of Japan at this terrible time. I thought that this would be particularly appropriate as we have a Japanese player in our team. There has been a very positive response on the forum but some people have expressed concerns that the club might not allow people to bring flags in the stadium. It seemed very unlikely to me that the club would object to anyone showing sympathy with the Japanese people and support for one of our most popular players in this way and I would be very grateful if you could confirm that fans will be allowed to bring Japan flags to Saturday's game. Thank you in advance for your swift attention to this matter. Best regards, Dominic Braham Hi Dominic, thanks for your email. It's great to hear that supporters would like to show their solidarity at Saturday's game. As you rightly point out, Yuki's presence makes this particularly relevant for our club and I know that Yuki himself has been extremely grateful for the kind words of support offered by City supporters. We would welcome supporters to bring flags to the game, which would be a warm addition to tributes already planned. In the interests of crowd safety, it is important that we know where the flags are going to be and how big they are. Those interested in bringing flags of any kind to the game should contact us directly on [email protected] with details of the flag size and where in the ground they are sitting and we will liaise with them directly to give any appropriate advice. Thank you for your support on this and hopefully Saturday can be a fitting tribute to those affected. Best regards Anthony Herlihy LCFC Media Department
stripeyfox Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 Agree with the sentiment of showing support for the Japanese people after the dreadful disaster they've suffered. About sums up everything about our club that if I want to take a flag to the ground I have to email them first with dimensions and seat location. If I were going, I'd get a flag of ebay or somewhere, fold it up in my pocket and unfurl it once inside. The club wouldn't want to risk the negative publicity of trying to remove a flag from a supporter which was being waved in a human gesture of compasion. Would they?
tomtom Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 All our players should wear a japanese flag style armband in respect and solidarity to Japan and Yuki Paolo Di Canio wore an American one just after 9/11 in the same way
mitsuo Posted 18 March 2011 Posted 18 March 2011 http://japanesefootballersaroundtheglobe.blogspot.com/2011/03/26-members-for-charity-match-announced.html
acooling08 Posted 18 March 2011 Posted 18 March 2011 It would be nice to have a few japanese flags in the ground but I don't think that there should be a silence. I always thought the silence for the war veterens was a mark of respect, not for people in disasters because then you could have a minute's silence every few weeks.
