Lester LXXIV Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 I'm coming up for the Pompey game this weekend and we want to go for a curry on Saturday night. Anyone been to a few and able to recommend one in the city please?
Bellend Sebastian Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 There are decent ones all over the city, so you should be able to find one wherever you are. If you're coming on the train, there's the imaginatively named Curry House and The Tiffin on London Road, and the Kayal on Granby Street, which are all close to the station. In the West End there's Namaste and the Golden Tamarind on Hinckley Road, Mem Saab in the Highcross and too many to mention in Belgrave
Lester LXXIV Posted 17 March 2011 Author Posted 17 March 2011 Cheers! We're staying at the Premier Inn on the A50 but will probably be looking to eat in the city centre somewhere.
bhav136 Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 you gone have a lot to choose from... Id head towards Belgrave and Melton Road as you will have a lot more choice...or got London Road near the train station which has got a few restaurants ... On the other hand places in on Belgrave Road you could try are: Curry Fever (belgrave Road) harmony (just besides the flyover on belgrave road) Kyber (Melton Road) The grand durbar (melton road) Paprika Trianga also most of the pubs along this round do curries as well also you have got Flamingo bar and grill (loughborogh road) and round the corner from there you have the jungle club. Hope that helps you

How many of you are going out to eat? also forgot t omention Feast of India, its a buffet place. This place gets quite busy on the weekends and is advisable to book. Personal recommendation id go for Flamingo bar and grill, Kyber, grand durbar or feast of india.
Sparky Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 Grand Durbar is top draw, quite the fan of Feast India also

MPH Posted 18 March 2011 Posted 18 March 2011 too narrow it down even more The Grand Durbar and Feast of India (http://www.feastindia.co.uk) are on the same stretch of road roughly 100yards apart. Also highly reccomend the Grand Durbar. although i would suggest booking if you are wanting to go on a saturday night. Not the cheapest but a quality meal every time i have been there. The Grand Durbar 292-294 Melton Rd Leicester 0116 266 6099
Babylon Posted 18 March 2011 Posted 18 March 2011 Don't you have to book feast India? On a friday and saturday it's advised unless you get there when the doors open. I'm supposed to be going on sat.
Lester LXXIV Posted 18 March 2011 Author Posted 18 March 2011 We've been advised to try Namaste at Braunstone Gate? Apparently a nice area for bars too. Your thoughts??

Lester LXXIV Posted 19 March 2011 Author Posted 19 March 2011 Well that doesn't say much for the Premier Inn staff!
Unit Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 Its not exactly a 'nice' area, but there are some decent bars. How dare you! , it is alright, some good bars for after the football, there's Namaste and Tamarind opposite each other, both decent.
