Larry_LCFC Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 How frustrating was it today with the amount of potential we simply wasted on free kicks. Gallagher must have had 4-5 free kicks and wasted atleast 3. Trying all this fancy shit just did not work today. Atleast have a pop on goal cause one has to go in eventually. Especially after he was bragging on EMT last night about how good his free kicks are. Same with corners ... why play it short and risk losing it (which we did several times). Simply cross it into the mix and let Bamba knock it in. Take it back to friggin basics. This isnt a pop at Gallagher cause i rate him very highly but seriously sven ... sort it out. Thoughts?
zubi Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 Extremly frustrating. Maybe if Mee got his head on the first one and Wellens connected with the second we would be saying how brilliant they were. But I cant believe Gally didn't have an effort for either.
ajthefox Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 We did waste a lot today but I don't think the chips Gally did were his idea, they'd definitely been worked on in training. I suspect he'd been told to try them and see how they go, I'm sure he would rather have had a go himself.
mitsuo Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 I still don't understand why Yuki doesn't take direct free kick for us. He was one of the best in j-league a few years ago. I think i know why.....
Fox92 Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 Corners need to be hit hard into the area, instead of a little float. If they are hit hard, a player would need to contact the ball for it to go in with pace, where as, when they are floated in a player will need to create the pace instead. Perhaps that is down to management though

I have seen some of Yuki's free kicks on video and they are great. He should take them to add another option. However, Gallagher said in an interview that when he practises free kicks at the training ground, he invites Yuki along but he turns down the offer.
anotherharboroughfox Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 However, Gallagher said in an interview that when he practises free kicks at the training ground, he invites Yuki along but he turns down the offer. if that is the case then maybe as Yuki settles in more, he will step up and have a couple. IMO having just Gally makes it too predictable.

Larry_LCFC Posted 20 March 2011 Author Posted 20 March 2011 Waghorn looked like he wanted to take the last one yesterday but Gally came over and took it off him (and hit the wall). Least he was attempting to actually have a pop at goal finally i suppose

Bob Weasel Fox Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 our game full stop isnt what it was a few games ago - whats happened?
dbtcity Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 I'm more worried about are inability to defend set peices
Leicester Bean Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 I think that if Yuki tried a few kicks, he could hit some screamers to be honest..
Corky Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 There was one where Gallagher chipped it to Mee, who slipped over. Gallagher can't be blamed for that. Others were poor I agree.
