surrifox Posted 8 April 2011 Posted 8 April 2011 As it looks like we will be plying our trade in the championship for another season let's hope that the teams relegated this season are the ones least equipped for a swift return stuffed full of parachute payments . to that end how about: Blackpool (Adam will leave and they will revert to being a mid table championship side) West Ham (Parker will leave and the massive debts they have accrued will cause them problems) Wigan (must be surprised to have survived this long and would probably not adapt well to relegation)
Tommeh Posted 8 April 2011 Posted 8 April 2011 Blackpool - Weekender. Villa - Local. West Ham - London. Final chance to go Upton Park.
Guest Bilo Posted 8 April 2011 Posted 8 April 2011 Blackpool - Good weekender and their play-off run is unlikely to be repeated if Adam leaves in the summer. Higher end of mid-table. West Ham - Huge away day in London but I have a feeling they'll be a big threat in this league. Likely to start as faves for promotion if they are relegated so long as they manage to keep their more important players. Wigan - Punched well above their weight for a long time and crowds, already low, will collapse. Good manager in Martinez but best players will almost certainly leave such non-descript surroundings. Mid-table. If Villa come down though, they will monster this league like Newcastle did. Might be a local away day and a decent away day, but I don't want them coming down as I reckon that'll just mean one less promotion place. For me, the bigger threat is coming up from League One again. Brighton and Huddersfield both play good football under talented young managers, and if Southampton come up they aren't short of a bob or two.
Simo86 Posted 8 April 2011 Posted 8 April 2011 Blackpool - Weekender. Villa - Local. West Ham - London. Final chance to go Upton Park. If its half as good as last time i'd be happy!!!!
topharry123 Posted 8 April 2011 Posted 8 April 2011 Agree that if Villa come down then top spot will be gone. I think they have a much better team than Newcastle did, but then again they could lose some of their big stars so maybe they won't be the powerhouse i'd expect.
Tommeh Posted 8 April 2011 Posted 8 April 2011 Villa would be two stonking good fixtures home and away, I just want a strong competitive championship full of good clubs part of the reason I'm happy to see Reading/Swansea/QPR/ **** off to the premiership.
MC Prussian Posted 8 April 2011 Posted 8 April 2011 Let's all come back in four weeks time and discuss this then. Personally, I'd love the "weakest" teams to go down and that would be Wolverhampton, Blackpool and Wigan. Besides, I'm going Villa on Sunday already, so no need for a repeat in the Championship.
lcfc_jme Posted 8 April 2011 Posted 8 April 2011 Villa are just about struggling with their astronomical wage bill in the Prem, they'd almost certainly have to offload a lot of their squad if they were to get relegated. As it happens, I'd love Blackpool, West Ham and Villa to come down, all 3 would be insane away days.
Fox92 Posted 9 April 2011 Posted 9 April 2011 Being a bit greedy here, and as much as I like them, I'd like to see West Ham come down because I've never been to Upton Park and always wanted to visit the ground. Not to fussed about any other team, although I hate Holloway and wonder what Aston Villa would be like in this division. They would most probably steam it like Newcastle did but its a big ground to visit although I have been to Villa Park before, in 2003/04. Can't remember it too well though. _________________ As for coming up, I'd like to see Huddersfield win promotion. Its quite local for me, I've never been to the ground (didn't go when we were in League 1) and I like Lee Clarke because he was a fantastic footballer and is now an excellent upcoming, talented English manager. Not sure if I'd like to see Brighton, Bournemouth and Southampton to all win promotion because they are all down at the bottom end of the country. I'd like to have a stop over at one of them though, whoever wins promotion, with it obviously looking to be Brighton. So, that leaves another team. I'd like Oldham to come up because Dickov and Taggart are there and doing ok at the minute. Been to Boundary Park before though, as well as London Road, therefore not to bothered about Peterborough although its local-ish, just down the A1. Most porbably like to see Leyton Orient promoted (just incase West Ham don't come down) so that theres another London trip for everyone to exploit. I'm pretty sure they are just outside the play offs in the division. _________________ Overall, my prefered choices would probably have to be: West Ham Blackpool Aston Villa Huddersfield Brighton Leyton Orient
Leicesterpool Posted 9 April 2011 Posted 9 April 2011 Well I support Villa aswell, so ofcourse I don't want them to come down. However I reckon Blackpool, Wigan & wolves will be coming down. So come on Villa to stay up! & leicester to go up, hopefully be meeting in the premiership next season. Hopefully Birmingham will get relegated, so if Leicester don't go up it will be & cr*p andrews away.
