FuriousFox46 Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 I completely understand when we go one down that it's frustrating, especially in tonight's circumstances but when the crowd get restless and shout at the players we become too urgent and complacent and we play worse. I know it's hard to hold back but it's imperative to restrict this because the players just do not respond to it well at all. Thanks, Keep the faith (One point closer)
Charl91 Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 I already lost all my faith. Do you have some spare you can lend me?
acooling08 Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 I already lost all my faith. Do you have some spare you can lend me? Gained a point on Leeds. Still 4 points off. Run with that.
cc_star Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 A corrosive atmosphere at home is counter-productive, whatever happens 90mins solid support is the best way to help the players, once the final whistle goes or in the week after in the forums is the time to air any negative opinions.
cc_star Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 Gained a point on Leeds. Still 4 points off. Run with that. It;s as good as 5 points though, including the GD of Millwall, Forest, Leeds Do-able but to gain points on all 3 teams is highly unlikely
Bluefoxtim Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 It;s as good as 5 points though, including the GD of Millwall, Forest, Leeds Do-able but to gain points on all 3 teams is highly unlikely The thing is, loads of people said that losing to Norwich was the end of our season. All the other teams ARE dropping points. We've had chance after chance to really put the pressure on - tonight, Boro etc etc etc, we've just failed to do so. If we win the next 5 games we will be in the play-offs - I'm certain. Shame we won't
Guest bennytwohats Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 the players just do not respond to it well at all. They really, really don't do they?! Be a good day when more people realise this, if you have too boo and moan, save it for the final whitle

thybluefox Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 There was plenty of cheering on and support tonight, especially towards the end.
themotivator Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 sat in east stand, which seemed like the quietest place in the world apart from frustrated groaning every time a player ran himself into trouble or a pass didn't come off. nice view, but at least in the kop you can get behind the players at times when you haven't only just scored. people leaving when van aanholt was about to take his free kick on 90something minutes was unbelievable. still i suppose its a persons right to shut up and enjoy/not enjoy the game in silence if they want to. good job not everyone takes this stance though.
Thracian Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Sat halfway up the South Stand behind the goal and the fans were awful when we went behind. Everything from everyone was wrong even Oakley seconds before he lashed in the equaliser. I thought the arguably Man of the Match but, whatever, the team didn't play so badly they were just up against a team who put everyone behind the ball and frustrated us to distraction. It highlighted the problem I thought would show up on Saturday - our lack of pace no matter how good our passing. But against Burnley, Kamara took people on and made defenders lose their shape. Tonight Palace marked Kamara very closely and the space was rarely found. It was an early signal to use a conventional winger to get around the back or to put retreating defenders under pressure. We just didn't do that nor obviously counter Palace's approach at all. Playing 4-3-3 and using full-backs as wide attackers if they have pace, can go past people and deliver a variety of crosses. Otherwise it's a poor man's option and that's how it looked tonight. Yes we did get some crosses in and won some corners but we were back to being predictable. When the delivery was resonable it was almost always high in the air and meat and drink to the defenders. We must use alternatives and we must get someone attacking the near post. One or two people suggested Weale was at fault for the goal but I was right in line and it swerved wickedly and would hae beaten lots of goalkeepers. More blame to me lay in failing to deal with Scannell, a known threat. Letting him run at you is close to suicidal and we paid dearly. So not the perfect tactics but I don't think the players deserved some of the vitriol I was hearing. You could feel the frustration when what was needed was support and encouragement. There was plenty of effort there and some promising moves but we just lacked the ingredients to counter Palace's predictable tactics. We didn't need to take a forward off but to put another one on towards the end.
