Haydos Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Anyone would think we'd just scored a winner. His sending off was absolutely no benefit to us, one of their better players is now banned for 3 games and they have S****horpe, Doncaster, Leeds, Hull and Forest to play. I'm assuming he'll miss the Doncaster, Leeds and Hull games so that's a big plus then Bit of a non-story. Ironic cheers? You know what fans are like with refs, combined with the frustration in general.
crisp monster Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 I thought the crowd cheered louder for the red card than our goal (in b1) Tbh I don't think many fans ,at all grounds, have ever made a tackle, been tackled or played the game at all.
Corky Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 I think it was just a natural reaction to seeing a red card for an opponent.
thybluefox Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 To say the crowd cheered louder for the sending off than the goal is just deluded.
Kitchandro Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Is someone seriously asking why people cheer when someone is sent off?! pointless thread.
JmorsonLCFC Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Cheered for 2 reasons: 1. They were singing at our fans who were (surprisingly) leaving before full time. 2. I've never known an opposition player being sent off not being greeted by a cheer. It's almost like saying what's the point in celebrating a goal when your seasons over and it means nothing in the context of the match. Plus, your knowledge of Palace's remaining games is fantastic, but I doubt many others in the 22,000 there last night were equally clued up on it. I wouldn't say it makes our fans idiots. This.
crisp monster Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 To say the crowd cheered louder for the sending off than the goal is just deluded. Seemed it at the time People were standing up and cheering at a player , who might have done us a big favour in the run in, getting red carded when there was a minute to go and we desperately needed a winner which was what Davie put in the original post. I go to watch City in the hope that they might play open, inteligent attractive football Not to see some card happy ref ruin it as a specticle PVA made a bloody meal of it anyway
davieG Posted 14 April 2011 Author Posted 14 April 2011 Red card cancelled on appeal - sent off for spitting anyway. http://www.palace.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=238710
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 14 April 2011 Posted 14 April 2011 That's odd because the BBC seemed to think it was for kneeing Van Aanholt and got a pretty good picture of it in the highlights video: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/crystal_palace/default.stm Just confirms what was clear on the night. Awful ref. I don't normally like criticising them but him and the Family End linesman were well below par.
Brown Fox Posted 14 April 2011 Posted 14 April 2011 his ban has been overturned and BBC sport seem to think it was because he spat on PVA? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13087840.stm
Darkon84 Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 Shocking that its been overturned for SPITTING when its clear as day that he kicked out at PVA's head. Disgraceful!
The Padster Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 1 goal in 39 games? It's a wonder they even want him back.
millzi Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 Just watched it again, absolutely ridiculous that it has been overturned, absolutely no need for it and stupid.
filbertway Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 I'm glad that was overturned. Clearly it wasn't worth a red card.
