davieG Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Anyone would think we'd just scored a winner. His sending off was absolutely no benefit to us, one of their better players is now banned for 3 games and they have S****horpe, Doncaster, Leeds, Hull and Forest to play. I'm assuming he'll miss the Doncaster, Leeds and Hull games so that's a big plus then
The Year Of The Fox Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Mainly cos their fans were giving it the cheerio to our fans who only came for the pie and pint. They were still singing it as their man got sent off so we gave it them back:-)
davieG Posted 13 April 2011 Author Posted 13 April 2011 Probably because he kicked a guy in the head. I doubt anyone actually saw that especially those at the back of the kop and considering he hardly touched Van Aanholt who made a massive Drogba like over reaction to it. Yes a few waves but I could see many in the ground cheering and dancing as if we;d scored the winner it also used up a minute or two of the added on time.
ian_marshall Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 If the ref had actually taken into account the additional stoppages in play due to PVA nursing a head injury, the time taken to send the player off, along with their time wasting antics there should easily have been another 3 minutes to play against a poor side with 10 men, giving us a possible chance to score. The fact that the ref blew for full time before allowing us to take the corner about 30 secs after the sending off incident was unbelievable as it showed he had bought into their gamesmanship.

Being sat in B2, I saw it, and we all cheered when he saw red. So what if it's no benefit to us? There was absolutely no need for it so he deserved to get taunted. The dirty ****.

I'm assuming he'll miss the Doncaster, Leeds and Hull games so that's a big plus then I think it was done out of habit and with no particular process of thought or logic No particular surprise there then! I'm sure that you'd get a flatline if you wired some of our fans to a machine that measured brain activity

Yes a few waves but I could see many in the ground cheering and dancing as if we;d scored the winner it also used up a minute or two of the added on time. Babma wasted more time getting booked. I agree about the cheering though, whats the point 3 mins into injury time, no benefit to us at all!
Legend_in_blue Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Having watched the opposition play total non-football for 90 minutes, at least we had something to cheer about. The sheer frustration of watching 11 men behind the ball was extremely negative. When Palace went forward with the ball they actually looked half decent. Perhaps if they didn't adopt such a negative attitude to games they'd have won more than one game away this season.
thybluefox Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Everyone cheered because they'd been wasting time and playing dirty since the scored in the first half. Finally got what was coming to them. They'd effectively killed off any game of football that could have been played, so why not cheer when one of them gets what he deserves? Lighten up Dave.
Stevosevic Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 A large majority of our fans are idiots, that's why they cheered. It was no benefit to us at all with 10 seconds on the clock.
munf1987 Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Zaha is a price ****, i thought he had got away with it, with PVA on the floor, Zaha stood over him said something and clearly made sure he caught PVA as he walked by. All their players were at all for the 60mins after they scored. McCarthy was all over bamba for every corner and free kick that was put into the box. Even when sol got in front of him, there was a push to make sure sol ended up in front of the ball. That tackle of vassell from James Vaughan was awful and should have been booked even with him just coming on the pitch. Some refs allow teams like that to play their game, if after a couple of fouls and time wasting they caution a player it will stop but yet again the referee was poor. I didnt have a clear view but to me and the way howard fell foward, he should have had a penalty, refs need to start stamping out this wrestling in the penalty area from set plays, give a penalty every time a shirt is pull and it will stop.Fair enough you'll give away a lot of penalties to start with but it will soon stop. One of the most fustrating games i have seen for a while, cant stand teams that come defend and break up play. Fair enough its good tatics when it comes off but its not exactly exciti Went of the topic there but rant over
Houdini Logic Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Combination of adrenaline running high at that point of the game and the Palace fans singing cheerio - didn't see the incedent from L and was worried one of our players would be sent off. And all of that is on top of the fact that we do it to every player in every game
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Cheered for 2 reasons: 1. They were singing at our fans who were (surprisingly) leaving before full time. 2. I've never known an opposition player being sent off not being greeted by a cheer. It's almost like saying what's the point in celebrating a goal when your seasons over and it means nothing in the context of the match. Plus, your knowledge of Palace's remaining games is fantastic, but I doubt many others in the 22,000 there last night were equally clued up on it. I wouldn't say it makes our fans idiots.
MrSpaM Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 He kicked one of our players in the head, why would we not be cheering when he got sent off for it?
ACE Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 A large majority of our fans are idiots, that's why they cheered. It was no benefit to us at all with 10 seconds on the clock. Cheering myself, I did it because the ref finally did something right, even if he did then go on to end the game early

Leicester_Loyal Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Get off your high horse! I'm not the one sitting here calling fans idiots for cheering when a red card was awarded.
MrSpaM Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 I was at the back of the kop and i saw him kick him in the head I also had a good view of it, he defiantly kicked him in the head, and he definatly did it on purpose. Van Aanholt's reaction was a little OTT, but it was a definate sending off offence.

As ***** walked past van annholt he kicked him in the head with his shin! I don't care whether its the 1st or 90th minute, he stilled deserved to be sent off. That kind of aggression can not be tolerated within football!
Stevosevic Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 I'm not the one sitting here calling fans idiots for cheering when a red card was awarded. A lot of our fans are idiots and at times they have been awful this season. The whole chanting of Weale whilst Ricardo was in goal was a perfect example, the booing of Yakubu and constant waghorn chants whilst he wasn't on the pitch. It's a shame when the sending off of a player that would have no effect on the game was the most noise a large majority could make all night, with the exception of the goal.
