Sliema team up with Leicester

The Sliema Wanderers Youth Football Nursery has entered into a technical co-operation agreement with the Leicester City Academy

.This partnership came about after Sliema nursery officials established contact with Steve Gregory, a recruitment officer at the Leicester academy who visited Malta last February to watch matches from the Carnival football tournament, staged at the nursery?s new premises in Tignè.

Gregory and Leroy Moore, a coach at the Leicester academy, were in Malta last week to launch the twinning project with the Sliema nursery.

During their stay here, Gregory and Moore conducted training sessions for children in all age-groups, identified promising players, visited schools to promote community football, took an active part in a football event at Tignè Point last weekend and also held a technical instructional meeting for the Sliema nursery coaches.

In order to facilitate the monitoring of local players by the Leicester FC Academy, the Sliema nursery will introduce an elite training scheme for the more talented youngsters. The training sessions in this scheme will be run by the Sliema nursery head coach Claude Chetcuti and Brian Spiteri, both UEFA A licensed coaches. In line with the high standards implemented by Leicester City, Chetcuti and Spiteri are to visit the English clubs? academy in the coming weeks.

A summer training camp for the Sliema nursery under-12 squad will also be held in Leicester in July.

Not being funny, as any co-operation with other nations is great. There must be some money there for us. But I doubt it's an exercise in finding hidden talent. Might just be me but I can't name one international Maltese player, nor any talent that has come from Malta.

I hope to be proven totally incorrect and have my face doused in egg.

the words cov and decent don't really work in the same sentence, unless seperated by "are not, nor have ever been"
