KING SIGNS

What a boring bit of news... he signed a new contract last year keeping him here until 2014 so I don't really see why him adding another year onto the contract means anything other than he's probably getting paid more.

If anybody comes in with a serious offer for him tomorrow, he'd still go.

You must know him then right?!

I'm not saying he'd still go as in he wants to leave or has no loyalty... but if the money was right, he'd still go as we wouldn't stop him. There's no point in contracts in football any more as they're pretty much totally ignored.

Lets take this for example... King signed today, tomorrow Chelsea (pure fiction, I am basing this on nothing) come in with a £10m bid for him... we're not going to turn around and say "Nope, sorry, he signed a contract for 5 years with us yesterday, no can do." are we? No, we'd take the money and be down a player. Hence the contract is pointless. The only thing that they do is outline what the player gets paid whilst at the club and the clauses attached to certain events. His performances dictate his value... just cause he's signed a 5 year deal doesn't mean he's going to be worth £7m for the next 5 years... if he plays shit, he'll be worth shit.

Thank you for pointing out the blindingly obvious. I would never had known had you not just pointed that out.

I am about to upset some but the main problem in our midfield is not King it is Gallagher. He takes so long to control the ball and has no idea where forward players are in front of him so the game slows down and opportunities for moving forward at pace are wasted. If you count how many times he passes the ball backwards you will see what I mean. King is bright and a willing runner of the channels but he needs the type of Wellens pass to score.

King staying is good news.

While he may not be perfect, Gallagher provides us with a good balance. You could have Dyer there but often that would result in immediate loss of possession and besides, the guy doesn't know how to kick a football properly. Gally takes so long to control the ball? I don't think that's a problem and despite maybe not always looking forward he is often much better at keeping possession.

The main problem in our midfield is

1. We haven't got a holding midfielder

2. No one in our midfield/team makes something out of nothing often enough. We have players who can do it now and again but not every other game like Taarabt and Sinclair do for QPR and Swansea. Basically, we don't have a dribbler.

And if you don't have someone like that, you at least need a 20 goal a season man (like Holt for Norwich, Long for Reading), and we haven't had one this season
