Liamlcfc1 Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 http://www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~2339706,00.html Leicester City Football Club is delighted to announce that midfielder Andy King has agreed an extension to his contract, keeping him with the Foxes until June 2015.A central figure in the City squad in the four years since he graduated from the Club's academy, the 22-year-old Welsh international becomes the latest Foxes player to commit his long-term future to the Club, agreeing a one-year extension to a long-term deal signed last year. King, City's current leading scorer with 14 goals this season, follows team-mates Paul Gallagher, Richie Wellens and Matt Oakley in extending his stay on Filbert Way, further strengthening the Club's bid to re-establish itself in the Premier League under Sven-Goran Eriksson. King told lcfc.com: "It has always been my ambition to play Premier League football and it is obvious that Leicester City are heading in that direction. I am delighted that I will have the chance to help achieve that ambition. "The owners and the manager have big ambitions for the Club, so knowing they want me to be here in the long term is a great feeling, especially as I only signed a new deal last year. King-PQ-150411 "The manager in particular has worked with some top players in his career - to have the belief of someone with his experience is a huge compliment and I'm determined to repay the faith he and the owners have shown in me." City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson said: "This is great news for the Club. Andy has grown into the footballer he is today whilst at Leicester City and he is getting better and better as time progresses. "He is an all-round midfielder who scores goals and he has established himself at international level too. Andy is a fantastic talent and we are delighted that he has pledged his future to Leicester City." Since making his first team debut aged 18 in October 2007, Andy has made 160 appearances for City, scoring an impressive 38 goals from midfield. He was the Club's Young Player of the Year in the promotion-winning season of 2008/09 and tied for the Players' Player of the Year award a year later. His inspirational performances at the heart of the City team have not only seen him captain the side on a number of occasions, but have also been recognised at international level, where he is now a regular with the Wales senior side. Having made his debut against Estonia in 2009, King has won eight full caps for his country, the latest of which came against England in a Euro 2012 Qualifier in Cardiff last month. If selected for Saturday's trip to Reading and the Good Friday game at Nottingham Forest, fixtures crucial to City's hopes of reaching the Championship play-offs, King stands to make his 50th Foxes appearance of the season against Watford at the Walkers Stadium on Easter Monday (April 25).
Guest DavidJCW Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 What a boring bit of news... he signed a new contract last year keeping him here until 2014 so I don't really see why him adding another year onto the contract means anything other than he's probably getting paid more. If anybody comes in with a serious offer for him tomorrow, he'd still go.

thybluefox Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 Wonder if he gets paid per appearence? If so, could be pretty cheap, seeing as he rarely shows up Good news I guess, ultimately though in todays game, a contract means nothing.
lcfc jack lcfc Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 , typical deluded Leeds i know :L apprantly there all talking about how theyd use him if they go in prem hes staying with us.
Walshy5 Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 great news was abit worried that he may go elsewhere. Mates a leeds fan and he been saying theyve been talking about him. Id swap him for Gradel
ScouseFox Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 Most interesting thing about that article is that they called the Walkers Filbert Way.

Guest Basildon Fox Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 1) He's only our top scorer, don't worry. 2) New contract = More commitment/More money we can demand for him. And another post from you highlighting the fact you do not have a sense of humour. Quite clearly was a light hearted post. Miserable bugger. Oh and so was the Gradel comment before you get all pissy with that.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 Or Howson I wouldn't swap him for anyone<3 plus if anyone wants to buy him then it would be like £15 million
Stevosevic Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 Good news. Yes, he has been a bit off the past couple of months, but people need to remember the past two and a half seasons that he has had. He needs a rest, and i am sure the 'Old' King will be back come August.
Finnegan Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 Leeds. We need to face the possibility King will be snapped up by the Prem, sure. But even if they go up, Leeds? Haha. I'm not one of King's biggest admirers but I can't imagine him leaving Sven for a newly promoted, probably-coming-back-down outfit. I mean if midtable comes sniffing, fair enough. Leeds.
Haydos Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 And another post from you highlighting the fact you do not have a sense of humour. Quite clearly was a light hearted post. Miserable bugger. Oh and so was the Gradel comment before you get all pissy with that. I'm not being miserable *crosses arms in a huff*. It's just a boring, boring label and I genuinely think some people don't get how important he's been for us this season. And the Gradel one is funny because it could be true
Stevosevic Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 Out of interest, does anyone know what kind of 'Bunsen' these new contracts have put Wellens, Gallagher and King on?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 Nice. Now drop him until he's got the hunger back.
Tommy G Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 Surprised he was around to sign the contract. I haven't seen him near the walkers for about 2 months
Brown Fox Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 Or Howson From what I've heard from Leeds fans he is basically a replica of King. When he's on form he's great and a real goal threat but when not he will just let the game pass by him.
Finnegan Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 Surprised he was around to sign the contract. I haven't seen him near the walkers for about 2 months :D
MC Prussian Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 Terrific. Now watch him flop against Reading tomorrow.
Head Honcho Posted 15 April 2011 Posted 15 April 2011 http://www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~2339706,00.html That's him gone in the summer then <_<
