Fox96 Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 If Smith plays, and we concede will everyone just start shouting for Weale?
Kitchandro Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 If we don't give youngsters a go now, we never will. There's nothing to play for in comparison to 99.9% of games. No point playing any old one, but if they've got potential, now's the chance. Agreed. They will never have another chance to prove themselves. This is anoher reason why we should have kept Moussa - another young player who needs to prove himself. Also when King or Wellens have been poor/needed resting we've had almost no other options.
CloudFox Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 The only one I'd like to see with some game time is Tunch. Might aswell, Sven can see if he's worth a new contract. These. A backline of Mee--Tunchev--Vitor--Naughton sounds tasty. Would be good to see Tunch playing regardless, even if it is just to say a goodbye should he leave this summer .
Thracian Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 I don't see what point using the youngsters would serve. The only one who's really ready is Schlupp and he's out on loan. Wearing a first team shirt should be a privilege not a giveaway as it was in some recent seasons when Uncle Tom Cobleigh and all got to wear the blue and white. And there's no benefit in playing youngsters in no-pressure matches anyway. Sven should have done what was suggested earlier in the season and had one promising youngster on the bench for every game - and used him whenever he got the chance among a team full of seniors intent on winning an important game. You have to show confidence in these people not tell them from the off that they'll be getting a run-out cos it no longer matters. What was it someone mentioned about psychology? The only way young players will learn to withstand pressure is by playing pressured football not Mickey Mouse matches. They also need much more than three games and especially bits of three games.
Jimmy Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 There's nine points to play for, and I want us to get 9, not 0 just for the sake of playing most likely mediocre youngsters. so when exactly do you try the youngsters out in a competitive game? People would say its too risky if we could still make the play-offs or were still fighting relegation but now we have nothing to play for its the perfect time, fans see a load of young lads they'll be more patient anyway and you never know 1 of them might well be ready (someone like Taft or Chamberlain for instance) and solve a problem for next season

This has got be a sign of an impending apocolypse.
