MC Prussian Posted 13 May 2011 Posted 13 May 2011 La tour Eiffel at night - been there, done that. Highly recommended. Although there will be plentiful of others waiting for the elevator no matter what point of the day (or night). If they're open, you can also walk up the stairs instead. The Sacre Coeur/Montmartre area is nice and you'll find some nice restaurants and cafés in the vicinity - just beware of the African street sellers with their self-made lucky charm bracelets. In addition, you might want to take the girl out for a classic walk alongside the Seine. I guess at one point you simply have to. May be a bit touristy, but the view onto the river, the numerous portrait painters, the mobile book stores will make up for it. The stretch close to l'Île de la Cité is one of the sweetest spots there is (search for the Church of Notre Dame). And avoid La Défense. Unless you're into bland, modernist architecture.
Dr The Singh Posted 13 May 2011 Posted 13 May 2011 I did it and had no issues there was a big group of us, only issue we had is we didn't have a cork screw for the bottles of wine so i had to run over to a restaurant and get them to open them for me. I found the french people to be reasonably nice even got given some key rings from a restaurant owner cos he loved our accents (or the girls i was dinning with) We tried to do the untouristy thing, being brown mate, there the most racist, colour prejudice bastards I have ever met!! Yet, as soon as they saw we spoke english they were fine, judging a person by there colour is one of the lowest forms of prejudism!!!
