marko Posted 15 May 2011 Posted 15 May 2011 What happens if he does it again? The acid guy, I mean. If he's blinded someone with acid, then been blinded himself as a punishment, what happens if he throws acid at another person, blinding them? Presumably, you'd like to think it won't happen, but what then? He can't be re-blinded... They inject him with bad Aids!!!
Alexikokopops Posted 15 May 2011 Posted 15 May 2011 They inject him with bad Aids!!! That literally made me laugh out loud
z-layrex Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 Seriously what is wrong with some people in this World?! Honestly, what would make a person do such a thing?! That's what severe mental illness can make someone do if it goes far enough.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 Ah yes. An eye for an eye, such a great basis for the justice system. So lets feed the nut job for the rest of his life, while this poor woman hasn't got a head? If it was an eye for an eye, people would think twice before doing things.

If it was an eye for an eye, people would think twice before doing things. What are you talking about? The man went stark raving bonkers. He'd obviously had a severe mental illness that had deteriorated for years before tragically culminating in a horrific, random murder such as this. Luckily we live in a country that picks up on (most of) the people that need help. People with a severe psychosis can be in another reality entirely, it's scary.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 Indeed they can, but I'm sorry to say it, but it would have been much better if he was never released. He shouldn't be out walking the streets if he was like that. In other cases, where mental illness is not an issue (although in order to murder someone, you must be not all there in the head), the people shouldn't be sent to prison, they have taken a life, and theirs should be taken. Just my opinion, even if it is a little extreme.

Leicester_Loyal Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 But what about where there's been a miscarriage of ju... You know what, I can't be arsed. Maybe only in the cases where it is 100% that it must be them, like this one.
Finnegan Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 You are on to a loser here LL. Expecting someone with a severe mental illness to 'think twice' is a bit stupid. He clearly shouldn't be 'free' but he also clearly needs specialist treatment.
Fosse Boy Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 Maybe only in the cases where it is 100% that it must be them, like this one. Regardless, if the severity of the crime committed is equal to that where is is some doubt as to who the prepetrator was then surely the punishments should be equal too?
Leicester_Loyal Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 Maybe mate. But I stick by the theory that if there was a harsher punishment for murderers, rapists and paedophiles, then there would be less of this stuff happening.
Mack Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 I believe that today's culture in which the desire for fame and notoriety is paramount for many breeds all sorts of fruit cakes that will do extreme things to get their name and photo on worldwide screens. In short, I blame Simon Cowell.
FoxyPV Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 Maybe mate. Doesn't stop it happening in Texas and they excute people for not paying car parking fines.

Jon the Hat Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 You stick by your theory, I'll stick to the statistics that show otherwise. We agree on something again.... I might have to start a thread about the negative effects of the Welfare state. Criminals are really not going into things thinking about the consequences. They either commit their crime in the heat of the moment, or know exactly what they are doing but convince themselves they will not be caught.
