MikeyT Posted 11 June 2011 Posted 11 June 2011 http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/Leicester-City-owners-just-ticket-fans/story-12754306-detail/story.html The increase in season-ticket sales reflects the faith Leicester City fans have in the club's owners. That is the view of Cliff Ginnetta, the head of the official Supporters Club. City have already sold 12,500 season tickets and are targeting 16,000 sales, and Ginnetta said the increase is down to the excitement among supporters about the club's future. This time last year, City had sold 10,000 after reaching the play-offs the season before, but early sales and the numbers renewing on the Early Bird scheme have already eclipsed that figure. "I think the last time we sold that many season tickets was when we were in the Premier League," said Ginnetta. "It is a massive amount of season tickets. "It just shows that supporters have faith in the club and the way it is moving forward. They also want to commit to the club. "There is a buzz about the place." Ginnetta said the attractive brand of attacking football being served up by Sven-Goran Eriksson's side was a big factor in the fans' excitement. "The club is moving in the right direction and the appointment of Sven-Goran Eriksson has made a big difference," he said. "His arrival has made everyone sit up and take notice, not just in Leicestershire but across the country. "People are also enjoying the style of football. "We may not have got the results we wanted every time, but I can't think of too many occasions when we have been disappointed with the performance, even if we were with the result." After the pledge by the club's owners to back Eriksson significantly in the transfer market so he can build a side capable of promotion, Ginnetta said there was great anticipation among the Blue Army. "Everyone I meet is asking who we are going to sign and saying how excited they are about the new season," he said. "They can't wait for the season to start. We want to get going again. "We are optimistic we will have a good season, and at least reach the top four. "Anything less than that I think will be upsetting – certainly the owners will be."
cc_star Posted 11 June 2011 Posted 11 June 2011 I'm sure if a couple of signings roll in soon, they'll be a further spike in ticket sales

sdb Posted 11 June 2011 Posted 11 June 2011 Sign Heskey and you'll get to 16,000. Partly 'cause i'd buy about 800.
