Madrid_Fox Posted 16 June 2011 Posted 16 June 2011 Hey everyone. Some people may know that I have recently been reading a book by Gianlucca Vialli which compares all aspects of Italian and English football. After reading it, here is my guide to becoming an ultra and a Fosse Boy at heart. 1) Love your colours unconditionally (and with pride) 2) Be prepared - within the limits of your ability, not your convenience - to make sacrifices well beyond the average fan in supporting your team 3) Have a sense of territory and of belonging. Your seat at Filbert Way is not just a plastic seat, it is your territory and you shall defend it 4) Be part of the group but always maintain your own individuality and think for yourself 5) Know how to distinguish passion from greed. Be preparded to give without receiving and never profit finacially from Leicester City 6) Love your city and your neighbourhood and be proud of who you are. 7) Do not stop supporting your team even during the most humiliating defeat. And that is my guide, anybody any thoughts?
Darkon84 Posted 16 June 2011 Posted 16 June 2011 If you dont match up to every single one of them, you are PLASTIC
Madrid_Fox Posted 16 June 2011 Author Posted 16 June 2011 If you dont match up to every single one of them, you are PLASTIC Of course. I don't have a season ticket anymore due to finacial constriants. But I definately fit that criteria!

What isn't is owners running the club into the ground while harvesting the cash from the club the way some owners (those two at exter about a decade ago, the wrexham blokes 5 years ago etc.) have done, also against the corporatisation of the game and the loss of tradition for the sake of cash (see the fa cup final being moved to tea-time for TV as a good example)
Madrid_Fox Posted 16 June 2011 Author Posted 16 June 2011 Gianluca Vialli and Gabrielle Marcotti " The Italian Job". Its a great read, it compares a lot of aspects of English and Italian football from youth development, professionalism, managers, media, agents, fans, game attendances the lot. I think the book has really helped me to understand the global game more. Contributors include, Gianlucca Vialli, Sir Alex Fergusson. Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourinho, Marcello Lippi, FabIo Capello and Mr Sven Goran Eriksson!

Mangaers, Players, Owners, Director are merely mercenaries of the club. They should be treated with suspicion.

AdamN Posted 16 June 2011 Posted 16 June 2011 3) Have a sense of territory and of belonging. Your seat at Filbert Way is not just a plastic seat, it is your territory and you shall defend it Last season I regularly gave my seat away to a nice young lady who just wanted to sit with her dad and her boyfriend. No harm done, just meant sitting in 157 instead of 156. But, in light of this, next season I'll bring a machete and tell her to back off, otherwise I'll cut her tits off.
Christoph Posted 16 June 2011 Posted 16 June 2011 8) Sit in the corner of the stadium in a small group of you waving scarfs around all game. A group of no more than 10 shall be permitted.

Thats the problem, the club (apart from the playing and managing staff) do not give a damn about fans. They only want to make money, its not about the football anymore!
Narborough_fox Posted 16 June 2011 Posted 16 June 2011 9) Get the owners to bring some of their King Power employees over, possibly around 1500.

Mack Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 12) Have a big screen erected in front of you so you cant be seen as well as not heard. p.s. Italian football still has the horrid disease of mindless violence within it that is by and large in this country a thing of the past.

MC Prussian Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 I wouldn't mind us becoming the English equivalent of Atalanta Bergamo or AS Livorno (just sans the Communist flag ). Tifosi assomarvi!
Guest Bilo Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 Does that hammer and sickle have a fire safety certificate? Never mind the politics, it's the safety. (Fireproofed swastika allowed)

Mack Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 [/b] Shits on England for atmosphere though I dont agree. And their attendances are pretty crap apart from for the big derbies etc. Dont put English football down, it's the best in the World in every aspect for me.

Their attendances are crap totally agree, but they get 12k hardcore ultras who don't stop singing all game! In England bar a few pockets of standers everybody sits on their hands. They also only have to pay about 15 Euros to watch a top flight game and you can get a train anywhere for about 2 euros! Compare that to English prices and you may realise its not the best in the world in every aspect.
