accessory Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 Quality finish by Dernbach - 2 in 2 balls to finally see SL off, and help cement his place in the team. Need to step up a gear for when India arrive, though.
Guest MattP Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 Great win in the end, Cook has a bit to learn as a captain but a good start with a series win, still think we need a better option than Patel as a 5th bowler, Broad straight back in for me. As above, will have to step up V India, though possibly an easier bowling attack than Sri Lankas.
FoxyPV Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 What a finish!! I thought SL had it in the bag with Malinga's 6 but some great bowling from Dernbach porved me wrong. Cook. Played the captain's part very well.
Corky Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 Dernbach was under plenty of pressure, Mathews and then Malinga who is no mug to bowl at. Excellent variaton of pace. Cracking series win, showed a lot of character to turn it around from 1-2 behind.

Tremlett, Woakes, Finn or Onions could all come in and do a job in 1-day games. Broad needs to cut out the petulance and work at regaining his form.

Seems to be having a pretty good county season at Warwickshire.

Bowling wise I'd be going Broad, Swann, Anderson, Bresnan and Tremlett, one less batsman than you want but you are getting 50 overs of quality, if you need a few filling in you can go to KP. Dont realise how much you miss Colly until he has gone, fielding at point (though Morgan does a great job) and a few dibblers being thrown down.
AjcW Posted 9 July 2011 Author Posted 9 July 2011 Broady celebrated getting dropped with his usual Notts night out(Arguing with a bouncer outside Coco-Tang for AGES!) Also, well done to Keiswetter... did exactly what I said he needed to. And credit to Cook for changing his style and Jade for settling in well!
Corky Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 Massive game today as England head over to Ireland. 42-over game, England posted 201-8, Ireland 13-1 in the 3rd over. Taylor only made 1 on debut.
FoxyPV Posted 26 August 2011 Posted 26 August 2011 That soup taking bastard Morgan provided a quickfire 69 to give England a respectable total. England win by 11 by D/L. If they'd had Finn they would have torn through Ireland preety quickly after the resumption of play.
