This is the ownership of the club enforcing its own brand on the stadium, the only comparison I can think of to us is "the sports direct stadium" which Mike Ashley has put over St James Park. I dont understand why people are saying it's going to bring us in money? There isnt a contract, it isnt a length of time, we just lose the money we could of got from a sponsor and presume Top & Co will make it up from there own pocket.

Well for a start, the owners of the company are the ones financing the club, so while the sponsorship itself may not directly generate money, we're still getting plenty of investment from King Power. Perhaps this was one of the conditions regarding the take-over, too? The Thais could very well have bought the club with the intention to rename the stadium from the very start. Plus, if they're doing everything they can to promote the King Power brand worldwide, then it can only generate more money for them, and subsequently, more money for us.

This is under the assumption that they are relating thier investment in the football club to the growth of King Power which if its true means not a lot of what they have said so far is the truth. Like I said, its comparable to Mike Ashley at Newcastle. I have no doubt they brought the club with the intention of naming the stadium, I'm pretty sure they have alot more planned, its became obvious to me we have been brought as a advertisement tool. The football better be good.
Winchester Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 I'm a traditionalist, so obviously I'm non-plussed by the new stadium name (or the old one for that matter). Should have gave it a proper name. But I suppose those days are over. Just wish for once something besides money could be the winning side in an argument.
