Itsthejoeker Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Why don't the play it on ice, exchange the ball for a rubber disk, and hit it around with sticks
I am Rod Hull Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 What a joke.. It should be taken off em.. Clowns..
lcfcadam Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 If that is seriously being considered then it surely represents FIFA's lowest point and the absolute, final end of their credibility as the governing body for this sport. Hopefully it just turns out to be media-spun, but these days it wouldn't surprise me if it was true - in which case I'd be the first person calling for a boycott of the 2022 competition...
Jordan Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Why don't the play it on ice, exchange the ball for a rubber disk, and hit it around with sticks That would be a great idea. Diving and faking injury would go down 90% and scoring would go up a little.
Finnegan Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Diving and faking injury would go down 90% HMMMMMMMM!?
Guest Bilo Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 A mass boycott of Qatar 2022 is absolutely necessary. Sponsor money is all to FIFA and if they were faced with a mass boycott of the biggest draws in Europe and South America that would be in short supply. Best of luck keeping the Coca-Cola/Budweiser/Hyundai deals going when the best final you can hope for is Qatar v New Zealand.
Darkon84 Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Absoute joke. Surely these things should have been addressed and sorted in the bidding process. Just more evidence that FIFA is a total sham. I, for one, would NOT be pleased if this decision was to go through. They dont want to implement video or goal line technology, that would improve the game, but they are willing to make a giant change to play it in three thirds. WHAT A JOKE
Darkon84 Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 More adverts got anything to do with it ???? KER-CHING!
I am Rod Hull Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 KER-CHING! Indeed Its all about the dosh... Im sure i can remember the Yanks in 94 trying to get time outs or 4 quarter games for more advertising. Idiots....
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Come on people. Does anyone honestly (even given Fifa's track record) think that this would ever happen
Haydos Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Complete farce. If there's any substance to this it will be FIFA's lowest ever point.
Yojoe36 Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 WHY THE F*** ARE WE HAVING IT THERE THEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Someone smack him please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kent Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 I still can't believe a shithole like Qatar got the WC. And I'm completely comfortable with being a bitter Englishmen.
Jordan Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 HMMMMMMMM!? Only sissy Europeans dive. It's true; Don Cherry said so and he's never wrong or racist.
Alexikokopops Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 The announcement that bespoke air-conditioned, indoor stadiums would be built at ludicrous expense went some way towards allaying fears, and now Michael Beavon, a director of Arup Associates, the company responsible for developing the zero-carbon solar technology intended to cool them, has told the Qatar Infrastructure Conference in London (a briefing that's even more exciting than it sounds) that in cases of extreme heat, Fifa is considering dividing matches into three 30-minute thirds rather than two 45-minute halves. "The one thing Fifa does say, although it is for guidance, is if it's 32C they will stop a match and play three 30-minute thirds rather than two 45-minute halves," said Beavon. "The reason would be to rehydrate the players before they could carry on playing. That of course would play havoc with TV schedules and those kind of things." Yes, those kind of things. While newspapers have latched on to this classic silly-season story as further evidence that Fifa has now completely lost the plot, closer inspection reveals that in this instance at least nothing could be further from the truth. If anything, it is Beavon and assorted newspaper hacks who may have spent too long in the sun. "This possibility has not been discussed," scoffed a Fifa spokesman. "In any case, this would require a change in the Laws of the Game, and therefore would have to be analysed and approved by the International Football Association Board in the first place." http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jul/07/the-fiver-qatar-three-thirds It's a load of bollocks about nothing to whip up some outrage, something that seems to have worked a treat judging by this thread.
Jordan Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 I'm certain that there were several games in USA '94 that were played at or above that temperature benchmark in that article, and in high humidity as well. Two 45-minute halves in that tournament didn't cause any laws-of-the-game-changing problems to anyone except for the Irish, who looked like a bunch of penisheads throwing plastic bags filled with water to their players only for them to splatter like water balloons.
