Christoph Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Always wondered how well Andy King could do up front, he's got that nack for being able to tap it in, maybe not as a loan striker but with another one, besides or behind...you never no.

Hasn't got the pace or strength for it IMO. Him ghosting into the box from midfield is perfect.

Wherethefoxhat? Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 The striker situation is very urgent. Still not even close to having the firepower we need to go up. Wasn't even close to being excited about Nugent coming in due to his overall poor goalscoring record, looks like another Vassell to me. Maynard is not worth any more than £5million and the Yak doesn't want to drop to the Championship. Houston, we have a striker problem. How things stand on a striker front, we won't score very many. Hmmmm......apart from that ........everything in your garden rosy ????????
Bezzanator89 Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Yes also with silver bells and cockle shells, and pretty maids all in a row.

Bezzanator89 Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Can win you medals in gardening contests but scoring goals I highly doubt it.
John Matrix Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 No seems to have picked up on this post!? Do you know something or just guessing? it was a complete guess and then the routledge thing happened. just goes to show that anyone can pretend to know something and get lucky. so watch out. i could lie to you and say i was in the know and then you'd be more inclined to believe something i said about a transfer in future.
PeterTaylorsApprentice Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 Anyone else think that Andy King won't do half as good as the season just gone ?
MikeyT Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 Anyone else think that Andy King won't do half as good as the season just gone ? I like how optimistic you are.
escos Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 Just a quick point. How many of the three teams that went up last season had a multi million pound strike force.IMO the were promoted largely down to their creative midfield players. Swansea- Sinclair and Dyer Norwich-Hoolahan and Crofts/Surman QPR-Taraabt and Routledge So if we can add in that department with Routledge and the fact we have added danns then the service will be so much better.Which in turn should make it easier for players like Nugent and Waghorn and whoever else we sign.

We have a more solid team than either of them three that went up. No doubt Taraabt and Sinclair are better than any of our players but still its a team effort and as a squad we look solid.
Guest Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 This is not meant to annoy, I'm just wondering why the second Maynard thread has been closed. This is a forum for football talk. Clearly the Maynard saga is interesting people so where should they be posting about it? Last time you closed the Maynard thread people ended up posting about him in all sorts of other threads which ruined them. If people don't want to discuss it then don't go on the Maynard thread. Don't understand the move.

It's clearly a topic people want to discuss.
PutneyFox83Matt Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Sorry if this isn't the correct procedure to suggest names without any sources. Have only written a few posts on this forum but I try to read all the topics and any links relating to Leicester, especially in pre-season, arguably the most exciting time for a football fan - how ironic! However, can I just table one named striker who we haven't really discussed as I recall reading a post from someone who met Sven in Thailand a few weeks ago. Apparently from other posts he was off to the premiership but don't know of any teams rumoured to be after his signature. Name? Shane Long of Reading. Over to you more professional posters...

Who would you buy? link here mate. Shane Long would be a cracking buy but I think he's destined for the Prem if he does move. I'm sure there was an 8/9m figure floating around last week Welcome as well
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Why don't we just forget Maynard?. He is so overpriced , it is unbelievable. Anyone would think the bloody sun shines out of his a--e. He is just another player, not unique. There are other fish in the sea. £3 million is the maximum he is worth.
PutneyFox83Matt Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Cheers Haydos. £8/9M?? Just looked around on web, Newcastle seem keen on Long. Wouldn't put it past Sven to put in a cheeky bid for him though haha. As for Maynard, Bristol and Maynard are really dragging this out which isn't great from our perspective, wanting a full squad in place asap. I still have hope he comes. But no, not worth £5.3M, ESPECIALLY in his last year of contract!

But no, not worth £5.3M, ESPECIALLY in his last year of contract! Absolutely no chance he would command a fee of £8/9m with one year left on his contract. If a premier league side are after him and he wants premier league football then Newcastle will simply wait six months and sign him for nothing as he's 25 in January. If Reading want a fee, now is the time to sell. Whether he'd come to Leicester is an entirely different matter.

Having one year left on your contract doesnt seem to make much difference to price these days Eg, mills for 5.5m with 1 year left on his contract
