flyboy254 Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 Hi All.. I had a Season ticket for the first time last half of last season.. In fact had not been to a football game before that and I'm the ripe old age of 45 . My ticket was in the upper seating area with my daughter and we were more interested in watching the home fans enjoying themselves in K Block. so we joining you there this year.. We went to a couple of local away games and the Man City Away game and had a real good time on the train and in the pubs before the game.. Can anyone tell me where the best drinking holes are for the home games as we gonna make a day of it. Cheers all Nick
millzi Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 The one next to the Odeon Cinema is probably the best, where the most people go to my knowledge, can't remember for the life of me what it is called. It is home fans only so you won't get any trouble.

accessory Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 The Local Hero. It can get quite crowded. Personally I prefer the Counting House, which is next door to Morrisons.
millzi Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 The Local Hero. It can get quite crowded. Personally I prefer the Counting House, which is next door to Morrisons. You're not kidding! Last time I went in there I was queueing for near on an 45 minutes, it was baking hot outside and I'm sure they had the heating on inside as well, so hundreds of people + 30 degrees outside + heating = Sweaty, irritable heaven!
The Year Of The Fox Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 I tend to go around the town. The Highcross Pub and the King Richard just round the corner from the Highcross . Then we nip into the 'Kaz' bar as I call it, next to the ground (a part of the same building as the Holiday Inn) Its never busy until about 2pm, then the queues get a bit silly. The F Bar is pretty good too, and there tends to be a good atmosphere before a local derby.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 I always end up in the Holiday Inn, quite crowded but you get served.
accessory Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 For those feeling energetic on matchdays and who don't mind a 20-minute trek to the ground (and maybe one back afterwards), the Swan and Rushes has a decent atmosphere and usually some quality ales. The Criterion, near De Montfort Uni, is another useful option.

The Year Of The Fox Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 Swan and rushes is a good shout... Great pub too I go in there a bit too, but for me its too small and gets crowded easily. The best thing on the hotter matchdays is to go to that off license down the road from the holiday inn and then sit in that car park next to it with them!
Ansteyfox Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 I love the Sir Robert Peel, it gets pretty full by 2pm but always a buzz and no trouble. It has the added advantage of Cheeses & Onion cobs for a quid
dayday Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 I always end up in the Holiday Inn, quite crowded but you get served. I used to drink in there, but as soon as the old half time orange opened up again on Burnmoor street,i went back in there,at least you get served quicker.
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 We always go into kings bar after the game... We call it five o five and meet up to discuss the match.. Bit of a tradition really...
stix Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 Tend to go down to F-Bar before the game & then onto the old halftime orange for a swift one. Then the local hero for one after the game most weeks before the old woman picks me up from morrisons. Used to do the whole town thing some years ago but back then it was out all day, football, few after then home, changed and back out all night. Far too old for that now though!!
Scow Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 Dry Dock is usually a good option – especially with a yellow card. I can still pass as a student.
sphericalfox Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 We always go into kings bar after the game... We call it five o five and meet up to discuss the match.. Bit of a tradition really... (Oh to be a fly on the wall....)
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 (Oh to be a fly on the wall....) Hehe come down and join us spherical.. We are a friendly bunch and receptive to opinions I'll even buy you a beer buddy x
accessory Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 We always go into kings bar after the game... We call it five o five and meet up to discuss the match.. Bit of a tradition really... You do well to get into there at 5.05 after City games..
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 You do well to get into there at 5.05 after City games.. [ We're usually there pretty much around that time... Same old crew I've known since 6th form. City fans for more years than I care to remember... Some of the folks on here say i have been negative of svennis.. And sometimes I have been to be fair... That pales by comparison though to mi mates who remain very unconvinced not by his 'pulling power' but by some of his selections and tactics. Miserable sods...
flyboy254 Posted 17 July 2011 Author Posted 17 July 2011 Well I know where I'm going now.. Didn't relise you all drank so much. I better start practicing now.. think I'll go for a pint.. Cheers all
nuttytimmy Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 Western for proper publiness. None of this fizzy stuff.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 The Western is good, but again very small. The Donkey is good but a bit of a trek
Huuuuuume Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 Kings Pub on King Street is good. Not too far and beers are very reasonably priced.
