Matt Posted 15 June 2005 Posted 15 June 2005 All good songs in the top 10 but most radio 1 listeners aren't really of the punk type are they? So most radio 1 listeners would vote for the well known songs...The reason for Basket Case being number 1 no doubt!
Ricey Posted 15 June 2005 Posted 15 June 2005 Green Day isn't even punk in my opinion, it's pop-rock and no way is Basket Case the best punk song ever. Funny how they choose one of Nirvana's most un-punk songs ever in the top 10.
City Fan Posted 15 June 2005 Posted 15 June 2005 I would have had the top 3 like this: 1. The Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen in Love 2. The Undertones - Teenage Kicks 3. Green Day - Basket Case
Knightonian Posted 15 June 2005 Posted 15 June 2005 No Pixies . Half the bands probably shouldn't be in there. Nirvana certainly have songs which are more punk than Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Phil Posted 15 June 2005 Posted 15 June 2005 no doubt Greenday - American idiot is there because its one the only greenday songs that the Radio 1 listners have heard. theres some good Punk stuff there but some of the chart is complete bollolks.
BassFace Posted 15 June 2005 Posted 15 June 2005 No Pixies .Half the bands probably shouldn't be in there. Nirvana certainly have songs which are more punk than Smells Like Teen Spirit. 123648[/snapback] More than half. This list is horrid. What's wrong with people? I'm not punk rock and I know that Jimmy Eat World shouldn't be on there. Not even their stuff on Static Prevails. But no Black Flag? No Bad Brains? No Minor Threat? "Most Punk"...Radio 1 deserves whatever happens to it for deciding to compile this list in the first place.
Cat Burger Posted 15 June 2005 Posted 15 June 2005 White Riot is FAR more punk than London Calling, it is only that high because it is probably their most famous song behind rock the casbah, silly.
Deathside Posted 15 June 2005 Posted 15 June 2005 It sucks There's maybe 10 that dserve to be in that list - There are others there that are decent but which are not honestly deserving of being in a top 30
Cat Burger Posted 15 June 2005 Posted 15 June 2005 25. Capdown - Ska Wars What an epic song!! But why is it in top 30 punk?? it is Ska/punk, a very odd choice!
Cobbo Posted 15 June 2005 Posted 15 June 2005 2. The Undertones - Teenage Kicks #### immense. John Peel, I salute you, sir.

Although I think that Should I Stay Or Should I Go is probably their most famous song.

Ricey Posted 16 June 2005 Posted 16 June 2005 Punk is very overly used as a genre, I mean people class the Sex Pistols, Blink 182, Nirvana and the Pixies as punk but they are all differ in sound greatly.

It should be as original as possible. In my opinion punk doesn't have to be just loud guitars or whatever, punk can be played on acoustic guitars or pianos - providing that the passion is there - thats its about the music.
Dave_7 Posted 17 June 2005 Posted 17 June 2005 god i hate punk. i personally dont think it should be a type of music, its just a version of rock with a hint of pink and yellow and wild things in it
