The Year Of The Fox Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Moving into my own house on Friday. Being a first time buyer me and the missis haven't a clue regarding the monthly cost of gas electric and water. Its a mid terrace and there are only going to be the two of us living there. The seller did give me some figures but quite frankly I can't remember them! Anyone fancy giving me educated guesses (from experience0 as to how mcuh they may be? There isn't a water meter in the house. Its heated by an A Rated Combi boiler For 5 days a week no-one will be in the house during working hours. We allowed £70 a month each for the three. Are we being a bit OTT on that? I've briefly looked for a website, but haven't found much!
FoxesAreBlue Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 I'll be round on Wednesday lunch to help myself to your telly...
Saxondale Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Gas and electric should be about £60-£70 a month, water about £250 a year. Just as ball parks. Good luck!

I know you pay a little extra for them but no bills coming through your door is bliss.
Finnegan Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 We pay our utilities quarterly, my half (and from that I'm sure you can work it out) varies between about £70 and £120 for the two combined depending on the time of year. I'm hoping this next winter will be much lower than that, though. The first year we were very naive and had the heating on pretty much solidly through December and January and this year they caught up with our electrical bill and realised their estimation was way off, so we got pegged for about twice normal value while they "caught up." Council tax combined is about £90 a month. Water we pay annually and the above is probably about right, TV Licence is also annual and about £120 I think? Oh. And t'internet is about tenner a month.

The Year Of The Fox Posted 23 July 2011 Author Posted 23 July 2011 140-280 a quarter? Sounds like i'll be going to a few more aways than I expected!
turkish14 Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 You need to check what electric meter you have I.e economy 7, single rate or heatwise as unbeknown to most bill payers this will impact on your bills if not used correctly pm me how many readings you have and I can advise on what meter you have and how you can potentially save.....
The Year Of The Fox Posted 23 July 2011 Author Posted 23 July 2011 Thanks turkish 14 I'll do that. (Probably a week monday as i'll be out til sunday night toasting the leicester 4-0 madrid result!)
stix Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 My gas & electric is around £80 p/m combined. water is around £100-125 every 6 months. council tax is £132 p/m. Gas & electric bills are about to go through the roof come august so find the cheapest and get it fixed.
