Sprint not a marathon

A good read, but i don't agree with the theory that it needs to be a sprint.

Generally speaking, it's only the media that are perpetuating the myth that Sven is expected to storm to the top of the table early doors.

What most fans are expecting realistically is that we establish a comfortable play off place by October and push for the Automatics by new year.

An opening day away win was brilliant, but it's still going to be a marathon, whatever 442 says.

another obvious article that anyone could have written, unfortunately.

What would you like him to say? It's for a wider audience, not necessarily just us Leicester fans. I thought it was pretty accurate myself.

First few commentd a bit harsh. I think it is a decent article, clearly echoes the need for quick success and hence a marathon approach to our season is unlikely to please supporters or the Thais. Let's face it, whilst some adopt a more measured approach expectation has never been higher at this football club, steady progress will not please the majority. In all honesty it is why I feel that whilst the win on Saturday was greeted with joy, who in all honesty doubted it? Obviously it was never a given but I'll be honest and say I certainly expected a win and will continue to do so in most games.

bluesbrothers is spot on.

Good article - but a bit deterministic to say that we must be leading from the front. The only day the table matters is at 5pm on the last day. Who cares how we end up in promotion/playoff spots as long as we do finish there?

That's true, but do you honestly believe a lot of Leicester fans won't be getting disgruntled if we're not there or there abouts throughout the coming months?

There were plenty of LCFC fans who expected Pearson and then Sven to get us promoted in the last couple of seasons and judging from the comments on this forum about what we'll need to do in the Pl next year sprinting sounds somewhat tame seems to me some are expecting a Bolt like performance.

I actually agree with the sentiments.... we need to start very well or the problems of gelling 10-12 new players will cascade down to disharmony...

Havnt you ever played football manager?

He's not theorising it will need a sprint he's theorising that the owners and fans will expect a sprint. Obviously not all fans but I'd suggest a significant number.

Speed is of the essence in this; the club’s comparatively massive outlay means the fans and owners will expect them to win promotion from the front

None of what he said is much in terms of news for any of us but I agree with pretty much all of it.

We obviously aren't going to turn into a title winning side overnight because of the influx of new players but the longer it takes us to hit some kind of form, start showing our potential and to establish a position say, in the top 6 of the table the more the pressure will build and the more worried many fans will become.

Every team will improve gradually, that should go without saying. For us however, continuing on from the opening day win could work wonders in improving our performances and on the flip side, it could be quite detrimental to our campaign if we don't, as it will only serve to intensify the potential problems that having such an active summer can throw up.

I avoid it like the plague. Because idiots uploading crappy goals on FM have made searching for real goals on youtube a pain in the arse! <_<
