Bert Posted 18 June 2005 Posted 18 June 2005 When we beat Aston Villa 2-1 in the F.A cup season 2001/2, this was the first away game that i had benn when we won! remembering that day still sends shivers down my spine, everything was great from the train at 9:00 that morning, to getting home at about 22:30 that night, the pub, the singing, the game and the pub after the game and then the train home - amazing! What's everyones worst?? Mine's the 4-3 defeat to Wolves - need i say anymore??

filbertway Posted 18 June 2005 Posted 18 June 2005 My favourite LCFC experiance has to be going to my first final, the league cup final replay at hillsbrough. Whats your best ever away trips? Mine has o coalville v wycome in the FA cup. The mini bus trip down was great loads of cars pipping at us cheering us on. Then when we got to wycome the pub opened early just for us, the match at the pub arsenal 5-4 spurs was great. We then decided to walk to the ground from the pub which was about 3 miles away, but after about 10 mins of walking, the wycome supporters bus stopped and picked us up and gave us a lift to the ground. The games itself was great, standing and singing for the whole 90 minutes. Then getting back to a nice warm minibus and then to the pub after the game. If carlsberg did away days .........
Thracian Posted 18 June 2005 Posted 18 June 2005 Training Tuesday's/Thursdays in the mid-60's at the old Filbert Street and, in particular, the half-an-hour or so afterwards when a young lad called Tony Mathers and I would shoot at the emerging Peter Shilton (14/15 at the time) in a goal that stretched across the old gym beneath the main centre-stand. His ability, even then, was amazing. Sadly Tony was badly hurt in an accident as I recall but the unique linament smell of a professional dressing room, the routines of car-park training, the lapping of the shale track around the Filbert Street pitch and the experience of shooting at a player we all knew, even then would be an England International was a priceless memory. Coincidentally, Pete and I was also in the same cub/scout pack (60th Leicester's) as rival sixers and also exercised our greyhounds on the old Braunstone aerodrome. I also remember him as being a brilliant centre-forward but his dedidcation to the goalkeeper's art was an example to anyone.
