Didn't Wiles publish the proof and then someone pretty quick pointed out serious flaws and he had to do it again? Like you say it's all a bit fudged isn't it?

Very much so. What makes it all so intriguing (to mathematicians anyway) is that Fermat claimed to have a proof back in the 17th century but did not publish it.

The various, mostly incomplete (ie they do not 'work' with all numbers) proofs of modern times use techniques that were unknown in Fermat's time, so either Fermat was bullshitting or had a proof so elegant as to defeat the combined knowledge of centuries of mathematicians.

It has become something of a 'celebrity puzzle', cropping up in all kinds of places incluting movies, novels and TV programs.

I've read three novels in the past 6 months or so which mention it!

When I write my novel, I'm definitely going to mention it. You can't have a half-baked odd-ball reclusive genius protagonist without mentioning it.

Exactly, come up in a couple of things recently, hence the name check.

What point was that then ? The one where the great intellectual had to resort to "trying to be clever " yet again ? Why not join an Academic Forum.....one where your theories & Maths Qualifications can bore the shite out of people who give a fook ? Much better surely than being on a LCFC football forum where your knowledge is obviously severely limited to say the least, and the slagging off certain of their players is both ignorant and unwarranted. :dunno:

Ok that did make me lol with the specifics!

OK, enough with the fashion advice, back to the serious stuff.....

If you have ever wondered why we always play better when you are not watching the game and immediately begin to play crap when you do start watching?

Or,

Why two diiferent people can observe the same event (game) and see entirely different things?

Then you need to check this out.....

If we had a bid of £3 million pounds or more for Kingy would you accept it?

Yesterday showed us that he cannot play attacking midfield and he costs us many games and points through lack of involvement. If he doesnt score he offers nothing to our team, seen mark davies today for Bolton and he was on the bench but looked extremeley lively when he came on. Get the cash in for king and then offer £4 million for Davies?

Let's consider the past three seasons without King's goals... (I'm wondering how bad things could have been as well).

Another spin on the situation would be that in the games you mention, King had a below par game and Davies had a good game.

How realistic is it to assume that the opposite is also very likely on an individual game - King having a blinder and Davies not making his way into a game?

The fact is all players have off days. Over the past few seasons, King has been an integral part of the team.

If King never had an off game and played all of his games to his maximum potential, he would not be playing for us and he would not be playing for Wales either.

King at his best - Inter Milan (club) and Germany (International).

And before anyone says he is not eligible to play for Germany, all he has to do is buy a Daschund these days (I'm presuming he plays for Wales because his grandmother owned a Welsh Boarder terrier).

[Just for the record, I don't have a Taffy dog but could represent Wales if I were any good at Tiddley Winks and could sing the whole National anthem too!]

I know what you mean though, as I also get frustrated with players and I wish King would cover every blade of grass, tackle back, pass like Scifo, and score every other game - but I also wish I had a 12 inch cock.

Me too, it's pretty formidable stuff, specially for a "sanctimonious pillock" like me....

I am totally intregued by the (proven) fact that reality is changed simply by the presence of the observer, it's kind of funky.

So, Quantum Theory as applied to football,

City have an important game in progress, but you have no way of observing the game, no tv, radio etc, etc. In your mind you can envisage any number of possible scenarios, from 'we are murdering them' to 'they are murdering us' and pretty much everything in between.

All these scenarios exist (in your reality) as a kind of quantum wave front, all these scenarios are possible but with vastly different probabilities.

Then you discover the game is on tv after all, so you switch on and.........

The quantum wave front 'collapses' into a single point, (reality as it is sometimes known) and all other scenarios cease to be.

Next lesson, how Einsteins theory of General Relativity can cause disagreement between even the most friendly football fans.

Strange lol

Quantum theory is seriously strange, and bizarrely, applies to football in all kind of ways.

For example, Heisenberg's 'Uncertainty principle' can explain, quite perfectly, why a manager (or fan for that matter) becomes so obsessed with one facet of a players game that he completely ignores obvious weaknesses in other parts of his game.......:dunno:

Einstein loved his football too, the theory of General Relativity was specifically written to explain why a tackle, seen be a fan to be a clear foul is, when seen by the same fan on the other side of the ground, a clean tackle because the ball is clearly and correctly played first.....

The only thing 'strange' is that it isn't revolving around yourself

Nothing revolves around anything, or anyone for that matter, Either you believe Newton, in which case Col and Spherical are revolving around the center of mass of their two substantial intellects, or you believe Einstein, so that both Col and Spherical are proceeding in totally independent straight lines through curved space.

Oooh you bitch... lol

Bitchiness is a well known side effect of Quantum Mechanics acting at a macro level, the tensions caused by the conflicting quantum probability functions make this inevitable.

Another side effect, of much lower propability, is an unusual and quite unexplainable interest in expensive ladies handbags......
