Meeting some mates from the station, so my questions are, how far is the ground from the station ?, and can i park there ?, also can you suggest a good pub close by. Also heard that there is a good curry house in Glenfield ?, is that correct ? Now football wise, think we will be very happy to come away with anything from this game as think leicester will be too strong for us. We have done well so far, in fact very well, but only really played well againts Cardiff away, the other games opposition were about as good as average div 1 sides last year, Pompey, Blackpool, Peterborough, Bristol City, Donny. Think we will do ok this year, we have a very good manager and a good team, but think we are punching above our weight at the moment. Could be a debut to Vincente who I still cant beleive joined us as he has class with Valencia and Champions league so think he will make the subs bench. Our best player is Bridcutt, a class above any defensive midfileder I have seen this year. We keep the ball well and play good football, so looking forward to a great match and hopefully a good curry.

Not too sure about where is best to park near the station but there will be city centre car parks around there. Looking forward to the game!
The Doctor Posted 13 September 2011 Posted 13 September 2011 Train Station is about 20-30 minutes walk from the ground, but I've no idea about parking. As for pubs, The counting house on freemans common tends to be away fan friendly.

Car parking around the train station is expensive and you dont want to leave you car in the streets around that area .You might be better off parking in the city centre and walking up to the train station,about a ten minute walk. As for pubs the local hero and the counting house are near the ground and you get a good mixture of fans in those and they are both about a five minute walk to the ground.Failing that there is a holiday inn outside the ground which serves four and a half pint jugs for £11 but that gets very busy early.The walk from the train station to the two mentioned pubs is about 15-20 mins. The curry house in Glenfield is top notch. Enjoy.

Ranges from around £4 ish. There's always guys there to show you where to park. I always park there when i go to a match.

There's an industrial estate about 5 mins walk away where you can park at most of the units for a small fee. Station 20-25 mins walk from the ground. There are good curry houses all over really - it might not be worth your while going out to Glenfield. You could try the city centre, or Belgrave Road (Golden Mile). There's a good place very near to the ground actually on Walnut Street called the Spicy Haandi. It's just behind where our ground used to be, 3/4 mins walk at most. I'm not sure about the result. At the minute we don't seem to have a system, and the players don't really seem to know what their individual roles are. That said, you are due a loss very very soon - very few teams actually go 7 games without a loss in this league, particularly at the start of the season!

We keep the ball well and play good football, so looking forward to a great match and hopefully a good curry. parking not easy near the station, best to park in one of the multi-storys in the city....leicester has loads of fantastic indian resturants so take your pick, and the best away fan friendly pub in leicester by a mile is the rainbow and dove on charles street...VERY friendly place.
demon_dog Posted 13 September 2011 Posted 13 September 2011 There's a good car park heading into town along King Richards road, about 400 yards before you get to the Holiday Inn. I you arrive after 1.30 it costs £2.50 to park, prior to that £ 3.00. good value, it's then an easy walk to the ground, easy to get out of after the game, easy to drive to Glenfield too. Long way to the station though. Also a long way to drive home after you've lost! Enjoy your day in Leicester.
promised land Posted 13 September 2011 Posted 13 September 2011 The best place to park at the train station is the old BT building opposite it, you can't miss it as it is painted blue top to bottom. The car park is underground and secure. £6 for 24 hours, (less for a few hours but have the right change with you) residents parking is down there as well so make sure the space you use isn't a reserved one, there are plenty availiable. The entrance is opposite the train station car park entrance, on Campbell Street, Fox Street, just off St George's Way. I've used this car park loads of times when getting a train and never had any issues.
