It seems we've lost what little pulling power we had as he is not the first to choose another club over us, Sidibe chose Stoke when i thought we had him and the young midfielder at Dundee has stated his preference to stay with them than come to Leicester!! Whats happening??

Yet you fail to mention we have attracted players of Rab Douglas and Momo Sylla's standing, maybe Sidibie chose Stoke as he'd previously worked with Pulis at Gillingham? We can attract class players but I would call Sidibie (assuming we made an offer for him) a lucky escape.

FFS! We seem to be missing out on everyone! Even if they are crap!

What is Levein saying to these players which makes them go to teams like Brighton and Stoke!

130044

We did not even speak to Sidibie thank god. That was just some silly talk by Pulis.

And i reckon if CKR had a choice between us and Brighton then he would have deffo chose us but maybe we did not even make a move for him.

Patience my friend , im sure we will sign 'class' players before long ;) .

Can I just reiterate he wanted to MOVE DOWN SOUTH !

That's why he chose us over you and Stoke.

130080

I dont belive he chose you just for that reason. No offence to you and your club but , you are a team who dont get more than 7k a week , are relegation fodder and have a League 2 standard stadium. He is not going to choose you just becuase he wants to move down south. I reckon that if we had made a serious offer and he had the choice between us and you no way on earth would he choose Brighton

Brighton agreed a 'six figure' compensation package for CKR, thats why they got him and not us. We can't afford that. I notice Karbassiyoon has signed for Burnley, another one the kids here won't be pleased with.

Just reading this thread with interest. Can you remember Andy Booth rejecting us when we were top six in the Prem in October / November '99? O'Neill was our manager and Booth was at Wednesday. These things happen. Players will go to clubs because of wages, location and prospects of first team football. It's quite possible we were outdone by Stoke and Brighton on all three fronts - yes, Richards might be worth a lot more to Brighton than he is to us. Levein has said we might have two or three more players leaving and two or three more coming, and he's pointed out that next week is likely to be quite hectic. I much prefer a manager who takes his time in the market to ensure he has the right men - both technically and in terms of their character - as opposed to Adams who'd have a new OAP turning up at Belvoir Drive every Monday morning.

I'd be startled if Brighton have paid over £100,000 for him. If it went to tribunal it wouldn't be anymore than £50,000.

We can afford £100,000 if the wages for the player in question is right, a player like CKR would be on about £300 a week at Bury so if you offered him £2000 a week and you paid £100,000 for the player that would be a total of £200,000. Well I guarantee that the majority of Levein's signings will be on £4000 or more which would be the equivalent of what it would cost to get CKR at top end price.

As for Karbassiyoon, he looked good when I saw him play in the Carling Cup but he's a left back isn't he? Which is one position we have enough players for, so i'm not bothered.

Of course he may have been guaranteed a place in brightons starting 11, but told he will be a fringe player in his first season here. Would make a lot of sense if that was the reason. :S

The reason we haven't signed him is because Levein didn't want it to go to tribunal and couldn't agree a price for him as stated in the article in this thread. We tried to sign him during last season, but Levein perhaps didn't feel he's worth anymore than what he offered.

Frustrating I know, but not alot we can do. We do have the funds to sign him, Levein has just chose not to pay what Bury wanted.

It will annoy the shit out of me if we sign someone not as good as him for the same or more money than CKR cost!

WHO???

Sorry but i can't see why people are upset over this, he is unproven at this level and we had him on trial so therefore i assume if we wanted him we would have got him.

We have Connolly , Dublin, Wright , Blake and De Vries plus i am sure we will sign another striker before the start of the season.

Conners will get 20+, Dublin will get 10, Devries 10 plus another 20 from other areas if this happens this should be good enough for a top ten with a possibility for play off places.

We don't have Blake, and hopefully someone in League 2 or whereever will take Wright off our hands on a free sooner rather than later. We'll sign one more young striker, but I'm sure De Vries & Connolly will be first choice next season with Dublin 3rd choice.

Brighton did pay £100,000+ for him, there's a quote on the BBC. Bit much really.

130126

Too ****ing right it's too much. No wonder Levein didn't follow up his original offer. Brighton are mugs, I know it's free money but they could have got him for cheaper than that if it went to tribunal.

Having said that, he is an awesome prospect and i'd be very surprised if they don't see a massive return on the fee they paid for him ala Zamora.

Exactly - but we didn't see much Zamora money. Big sell on to Bristol Rover, plus the money went to pay for our stadium enquiry.

None taken but no offence to you your stadium is worser than our stadium

I've never seen him play, so I won't be losing too much sleep over this one. We'll just have to trust Levein on this one - He's seen him close up earlier this year, so if he was really the business, then he might have made an attempt to sign him. (Although, who is to say we didn't make an attempt to sign him?)

129989

Well if you read the article, it says we did put an offer in earlier in the season but Bury rejected it.

130005

I read the article, I don't trust the reliability of it though.

I'll believe if we've made an offer if Levein says so. Just because we had him on trial, doesn't mean we made an offer, which is an easy assumption to make.
