I think this illustrates just how little cash we have to splash this year. For me, this was a bit of a disappointment. I would have been happy if he were our only forward signing of the summer.

Roll on tomorrow (1 July) when all those free agents float to the surface of the transfer ocean. But will they just be corpses though?

Gutted.

I know for a fact we had talks with him aswell, I imagine we've been put off by the tribunal after we couldn't agree a fee with Bury.

Perhaps Levein doesn't know how a tribunal works, but you only pay the club how much it cost to train the player for the amount of time they were there, plus additional amounts if they've played international football. CKR was at Bury for 3 or 4 years and I read somewhere on average it costs £14,000 a year to train a player, so on that basis the tribunal would be set at roughly £50,000 with perhaps a sell-on clause.

Peanuts.

No doubt he'll rip the piss when we get embarrassed again down at the mighty Withdean.

You also have to remember that the 250 grand that the Brighton fan won in the Competition also made a difference in this situation.:unsure::ph34r:

It won't cost them that though. I've just been reading what Bury fans think of him and alot of them say he has alot more natural talent than Nugent does. Tribunal's are notorious for not setting the price at a figure that is relevant to the players true value. I really think we should have taken a gamble on this lad, I guarantee he won't cost anymore than £50-100k maximum. We obviously don't know what's gone on and perhaps Levein did all he could to sign him but it's ****ing annoying.

I doubt you'll pick up a better prospect than CKR for the money that the tribunal will set and as Levein has said on many occasions he wants to build a team that is young and hungry for success. CKR fits that bill like curry to a pisshead.

Perhaps CL will sign Mads Timm and Ricardo Fuller.:ph34r::huh: My only hope is that CL has better options elsewhere rather than it was a lack of money that caused us to miss this opportunity. :D:D:thumbup:;)

Mads Timm has been given another chance by Man United, so there goes another one.

lets hope so - if we cant even afford 50k this season doesnt give me cause for optimism..

such a shame we missed out on him .. I have faith in CL but sometimes I wonder whether he is making the right choices ...

I find that highly unlikely.

I've never seen him play, so I won't be losing too much sleep over this one. We'll just have to trust Levein on this one - He's seen him close up earlier this year, so if he was really the business, then he might have made an attempt to sign him. (Although, who is to say we didn't make an attempt to sign him?)

Well if you read the article, it says we did put an offer in earlier in the season but Bury rejected it.

We havent spent all the money, fee undisclosed - but runs into 6 figures with appearences.

Includes a sell on clause.

I believe he wanted to move back south (he a London lad) - so we fit the bill.

He does look the business though....

FFS! We seem to be missing out on everyone! Even if they are crap!

What is Levein saying to these players which makes them go to teams like Brighton and Stoke!

These players joining the likes of Brighton and Stoke... are they really good enough to play for Leicester if they are joining those sorts of teams?

I'm not syaing they aren't, but just putting a different slant on things...

We did not even speak to Sidibie thank god. That was just some silly talk by Pulis.

And i reckon if CKR had a choice between us and Brighton then he would have deffo chose us but maybe we did not even make a move for him.

Patience my friend , im sure we will sign 'class' players before long ;) .

Who had heard we were signing Hughes before he came, likewise with Paddy, Levein is a clever man and will have an Ace or two up his sleeve, they don't need to be the most talked about or the most heard of, O'Neill proved that. Give the man time, if nothings happened by August 6th then panic.

Confirmed by Mad Biker we did talk to sidebe but pulled out of the deal.

Kazim-Richards has joined Brighton

Bury striker Colin Kazim-Richards is to join Championship outfit Brighton and become the likely new face of Coca-Cola into the bargain.

Brighton won a cheque for £250,000 from the soft drinks manufacturer to sign a new player following a nationwide competition.

Seagulls boss Mark McGhee has elected to use the cash to bring in the promising striker, who has turned down a two-year deal at Gigg Lane to ink a three-year contract at Brighton.

Kazim-Richards completed just 11 first-team appearances last term but impressed sufficiently for several clubs further up the football pyramid to express an interest.

The two clubs have concurred on a compensation package, with further payments to be made in relation to performance and a sell-on clause included in the deal.

Brighton will be hoping Kazim-Richards can match the exploits of David Nugent - who joined Preston last season from Bury and immediately proved a player of considerable promise.

so much for that then

Can I just reiterate he wanted to MOVE DOWN SOUTH !

That's why he chose us over you and Stoke.

It seems we've lost what little pulling power we had as he is not the first to choose another club over us, Sidibe chose Stoke when i thought we had him and the young midfielder at Dundee has stated his preference to stay with them than come to Leicester!! Whats happening??
