21st Century Fox Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 Well there is no doubt about that! What else is there on Tv ? some antique shows? soaps? oh and if you are lucky you might find judge judy or someone decorating a home. At least that guy has a REAL story about a REAL struggle and has genuine courage to go on stage. It doesnt matter if someone makes money from a show ( whats wrong with people making money? isnt that what we all want to do?) it doesnt change the fact his Story is 100% genuine. x-factor isnt just about talent... thats the the whole point of the name of the show... its about people who have that little bit something else. Sure talent is a big part of it.. but its been made into a Tv show for a reason... Read a book? Paint a picture? Watch a film you've chosen to watch instead of something thats just on. But the producers of that show aren't highlighting his story because they care, they weren't sitting around thinking of how they can highlight the plight of Iraqi orphans, if the audience and public didn't react to his story and generate a new 'character' to follow every week they'd dump him. I've not heard of Gareth Gates for a while but they rode his story till his shelf life expired. If you genuinely wanted to become a singer wouldn't you want to do it on merit instead of exploiting your own life story because it is a talent show and not a pseudo-soap opera. You wouldn't go into a job interview and give your life story like that you'd try and get the job on merit with your skills. I mean he's a brave chap and all but the whole programme is one big regurgitating sh!t stream.
EnderbyFox Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 No denying that, but one of the main reasons I don't watch trash like the x-factor is because I'm fed up of hearing about how hard person x has had it and I don't see why, if they can sing that well, they feel the need to tell the word their "sob story" rather than just relying on talent. Maybe I'm just a cynical, unsympathetic ****. I was glad i heard his sob story, found it quite inspiring but maybe that's just me?

Webbo Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 Not one of the finalists has a sob story in this years.... There was a story about last year's winner Matt Cardle how his family adopted some orphans when their mother died, it turns out they just had a couple of sleep overs.
