THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 Pearsons brother is head of meat quality at ASDA. He's the master butcher in the new ads Fact "Did you hear that"
Thracian Posted 20 October 2011 Posted 20 October 2011 Quite apart from whether the results are good enough my criticism of Sven centres around the commitment to playing entertaining football worth spending good money on bothering to watch. And by that yardstick I'd give him no more than 6/10 and virtually all of those marks for our home performances, which are sometimes good, though certainly not during the second half last night. Away from home we're so dismally and cynically functional its painful for the eyes. But, using the same criteria, there's no way I'd want to go back to Pearson. From all I've seen the bloke takes no responsibility for the type of football he advertises. His only concern seems to be the result and if he could grind out a season of 1-0's that would satisfy him. Pearson seems to have no philosophy that recognises anything other than the numbers. One-nil equals three points, a lift up the table, a win bonus for him and his team and another step towards whatever promotion target is in his mind. And he'll be successful in his doggged way. Never successful enough to shine but definitety successful enough to earn a damned good living and retain some respect. But it's all rather like being in on a carousel. It's predictable and lacking in excitement. The reason for that is there's no width, no individualism and no-one taking anyone on anymore because it's too high risk. It's all about triangle passing and the antidote of shepherding players into negative areas and closing down space. And Sven, particularly away from home, is just as cautious as Perarson. He's low risk rather than adventure. It's the price being paid for money-focused football and last night's crowd somehow symbolised the price being paid. Even after our comparatively significant spending, stacks of hype, big name manager, reasonably high profile players there was a sparse turnout and hardly a whimper of enthusiasm. At 2-0 up and another disallowed I honestly thought we could put on a show and win by six. But we simply closed the show down, went into hibernation mode and stuck two fingers up to the supporters in terms of entertaining. There was not even the sense of Watford having the urgency to perhaps score and reawaken the game. They didn't look bothered either. I considered the eight-year-old football mad youngster I was looking after and hoping might be inspired and wondered, instead, if I'd instigated an act of unkindness in taking him along. Afterwards I bought him a ball and urged him to join a local junior set-up. Far, far better than watching teams with that attitude. I didn't even mention the Millwall game so that's a tenner the club won't be collecting. Well done Sven! Not that I think he'll give a damn.

The kids on here that mock you at every turn, are really missing a trick with your analysis of games and situations at this club. I only really come on here now to read your views on games, because they really are bang on, everytime!. Nice one and keep up the good work that you do keeping some of us born before the 90's in check with what is essentially a real-time, virtual view on what it happening. I salute you Sir. P.s I don't always agree with the AK lovefest. He does a shift though most of the time.

Corky Posted 20 October 2011 Posted 20 October 2011 We would have finished higher last season and we would be sat up there in a nice position now in my opionion. I'm not so sure.
lcfc_sam_p Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 We won't ever know what he would do with the money so there really is no point speculating. Agree with thracian, especially about the watford game. We should have kicked on and score another 2 or 3 more. We have a big squad so 'saving ourselves for saturday' really doesn't wash with me. Perfect chance to get some people wanting to come back and watch us. If I went to that game as my first, I wouldn't be excited about my next trip to the KP.
bald reynard Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 A record of 9 goals for and 9 against in 11 matches for Hull this season - that sums Pearson up - totally boring and inconsequential (though MODERATELY effective) !
Babylon Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 'saving ourselves for saturday' really doesn't wash with me. I don't think we were saving ourselves, we were just rubbish. Saving yourself shouldn't mean you lose your ability to pass to a team mate.
lcfc_sam_p Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 Agree, I've just seen a few people use that excuse on here for the second half performance.
liamsm Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 How about we look at it this way. Peter Taylor hade a great record at under 21's. He went to the Gill's spent nothing had a great season. He came to LCFC BROKE THE BANK AND FVCKED US UP. Not every manager knows how to spend money. NP done great for us so did MoN but they have gone. Where would we be if Smith and Lineker had stay for another 10yrs. And if aunty had bollocks what you mean your Aunty aint got bollocks? weird.
liamsm Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 I love the guy for what he did here and it'll always be nice to see him back at the Walkers but for fooks sake get over it. i agree, but where the fvck is the Walkers
