MONreborn Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 Wishhe was given a chance like Sven has been just wondering where people think we would be now with the same amount of investment? Also think our style of play has been no better then a Pearson team. Don't want people to have a go and say stop living in the past, am genuinely interested
scinnell Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 I wish exactly the same thing, but we are in a new era dude, like saying, we should go back too using nokia phone's than iphone's!
Guest Col city fan Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 Tell you what... Let's start a thread on the attributes of MON or even Jock Wallace? Brian Little.. Maybe he'll come back? ................... In all sincerity, no-one can know how Pearson would have done given money... He's never really had much to spend in his managerial career.. So it would be mere conjecture. I'd rather look at Sven and the here and now. Lose tonight (which I doubt) and we are getting too far off the leaders IMO.
lcfc_sam_p Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 We would have got rid of all our technically gifted players for peanuts and replaced them with people who are good tacklers and can head the ball. They won't be able to pass though. Play crap football home and away, be somewhere in the top 8.
Fox92 Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 I respect Nigel for what he did. He took over a relegated team, won the league and had a fantastic season in the Championship where we made the play offs. I was sad to see him leave, but that is all in the past now, and we are in a new era. We have had this discussion many times, and it is impossible to predict where we would be with him in charge. Lets look forward instead.
Petchy Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 Well unlike others, I'm not going to reiterate 'there's been loads of topics before' as you are actually addressing something I don't believe has been discussed before. Your not saying 'I wish he was back' your saying 'I wonder what he would have done with the investment' which is definitely something interesting to think about. I would think that Pearson would mainly go after young, on the fringes of Premier League club types, mixed with 'proven' Championship players too. We'd probably have still been in for Maynard if he was here too!
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 We'd have been better last season and with money this season we really would have been doing well. But hes gone now unfortunately.

Houdini Logic Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 The simple fact is that the bottom of his face was larger than the top, and men like that just can't be trusted. I'm not even going to start on his eyebrows.

Also think our style of play has been no better then a Pearson team. wellyfox Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 How about we look at it this way. Peter Taylor hade a great record at under 21's. He went to the Gill's spent nothing had a great season. He came to LCFC BROKE THE BANK AND FVCKED US UP. Not every manager knows how to spend money. NP done great for us so did MoN but they have gone. Where would we be if Smith and Lineker had stay for another 10yrs. And if aunty had bollocks
21st Century Fox Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 We might've got atleast £100,000 when he inevitably sold Jeff
white_y Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 Let's be fair you can talk about bringing in top names to the club, where the hell have they got us? Mills is a good player but not 5 million, and beckford needs game time, then the rest of them are mostly frees and wonder why we aren't performing. Let the players gel and we will be fine with players like peltier learning so we have a growing squad that we can back sven in january to add where needed. Pearson is the better manager granted by promotion and play offs ON RECORD. But we have to back the club and the players on the pitch because we can't go back now.
lcfc_sam_p Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 Accessory..so your comparing one game under sven to NP's whole era? Good comparison.
Babylon Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 He's never really had much to spend in his managerial career. £1m ish for Jack Hobbs £1m to £1.5 for Matt Fryatt £1m to £1.5 for Aaron Mclean £1m to £1.5m Jay Simpson £500k Corry Evans £300k James chester £300k Joe Dudgeon Then free transfers on BIG wages like Robert Koren, with others on decent wages like Paul McKenna, James Harper, Liam Rosenior. Not forgetting all the loans that would also cost a wedge. And they are just the ones I can find. Whilst not quite in our league he's spent a fair amount at hull.
Corky Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 Pearson did a very good, and important, job for the club. It's important to remember though that he wasn't universally popular, people complained about his style of play and with money the expectation would've risen, so I'm not sure he well he'd have done.
Babylon Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 people complained about his style of play and with money the expectation would've risen, so I'm not sure he well he'd have done. The same people who would moan if we beat Barcelona 1-0 because we didn't commit to all out attacking playing and put 5 past them.
Yojoe36 Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 If we had Fryatt and Howard up-front nowadays then...

I was talking relative to Sven But yes, Hull have spent money... More than I thought to be fair
ajthefox Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 I love the guy for what he did here and it'll always be nice to see him back at the Walkers but for fooks sake get over it.
dannythefox Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 We would have finished higher last season and we would be sat up there in a nice position now in my opionion.
hackneyfox Posted 19 October 2011 Posted 19 October 2011 Frank O'Farrel would have done a lot better.

People need to stop getting there panties in a twist. I think he wouldnt be that great with large ammounts of money, the sort of players he likes dont seem to cost much, I think we would of reached play-offs last year with him, but this year he would have been either sacked or we would be in a similar position to what sven has achieved
