Ford Super Sunday Posted 20 October 2011 Posted 20 October 2011 Yep, only 965 days to go till the World football bonanza kicks off for it's 20th tournament. Far too early to be thinking about it, but the match schedule has been released, and so have the kick-off times. Match schedule is here http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/tour...chschedule.pdf has been taken down Main points: -Kick off times will be 13:00, 16:00, 19:00 and 22:00. If my time zones and clock moving is right we'll be FOUR hours ahead of all those kick-off times, hence 5pm, 8pm, 11pm and 2am here. -Latter stage kick-offs are as follows: Round of 16/Quarter-finals: 13.00, 17.00 Semi-finals: 17.00 Match for Third Place: 17.00 Final: 16.00 -Only one match on opening day, meaning first Sunday of the cup has four matches And in their infinite wisdom, FIFA have decided NOT to regionalise the tournament in a country as big as a continent, so there will be some potential mega trips for any fans going out there. So let the countdown begin...
StanSP Posted 20 October 2011 Posted 20 October 2011 I heard that Brazil are behind schedule on their stadiums. If they don't get it, apparently England is the plan B for FIFA? True or bunch of bull-shit?

True or bunch of bull-shit? Brazil were behind schedule (don't know if the still are) but as far as I'm aware australia was plan B.

True or bunch of bull-shit? We usually are FIFA's first plan B if the papers are to be believed, but FIFA always have several contingency plans to make sure the host country holds the tournament, I remember Bladder saying in 2009 that "Plans A, B and C are that the tournament will take place in South Africa."
StanSP Posted 20 October 2011 Posted 20 October 2011 Cool Wish I was going to Brazil. Maracena, especially.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 20 October 2011 Posted 20 October 2011 I've already sort of started saving, going to Chile Argentina, Paraguay first and then Group stage and maybe round of 16......all depends on funds and the roos qualifiying.
Narborough_fox Posted 20 October 2011 Posted 20 October 2011 Scotland's year. I'm telling you. With Goodwillie leading the line we'll get there no doubt.
Schlupp Posted 20 October 2011 Posted 20 October 2011 I heard that Brazil are behind schedule on their stadiums. If they don't get it, apparently England is the plan B for FIFA? True or bunch of bull-shit? Hope not if I'm honest,I like being the nation where the only time we won it we were hosting it
Jaspa Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 Team prediction for England's first game? --------------------Hart Richards--Jones--Terry/Small--Gibbs -- ---------Wilshire--Rodwell -- Walcott--Gerr/Lamp/Clever--Milner/Young -- ------------Wickham/Roo
StanSP Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 Wickham?! No chance mate. As much of a promising prospect that he is, Bent and Defoe are way ahead of him in the pecking order. Plus there's a whole host of other strikers before he sees the biggest tournament in the world. I think our youngest player going will be Wilshere (20 by the time WC comes around).

True Should've said Carroll tbh Think Connor will definatly be in or around the national team. Looks like Defoe might be Vassell 2.0, and I don't like Welbeck, prefer the Chelsea lad. Maybe Schlupp will decide to be English
StanSP Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 Forgot about Welbeck and Sturridge. I think they might have to fight over themselves for 1 spot. Hard to tell at the moment which 1 will get it - they're both playing very well. Wickham's in the U21's so if he keeps impressing there he won't have to wait long before making the full senior side.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 They also said Greece was behind in the 2004 Olympics and China for 2008. South Africa was also meant to have been months behind for 2010 WC. Wont be an issue unless something dramatic happens.
DB11 Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 Cool Wish I was going to Brazil. Maracena, especially. I've been I watched a game at the Maracana and it was truly amazing.
StanSP Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 I've been I watched a game at the Maracana and it was truly amazing. Nice! When did you go?
DB11 Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 Nice! When did you go? It was 2003. The game was Flamengo vs. Vasco, which finished 1-0 to Vasco. 24/10/03 (I had to Google this lol I didn't just know)

Freeman's Wharfer Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 Hope not if I'm honest,I like being the nation where the only time we won it we were hosting it You want me to see if I can find you any more straws to cluctch at?! Really want to go to this. Not long been back from Rio and that city will be incredible whilst the World Cup's on. We went to the Maracana, it's pretty much a building site at the moment but you can see the outlines of how it will look, and there are models of the finished version there. Plenty of workers waiting at the gates on the off chance more labourers were needed the day we went as well so I'm sure they'll get drafted in if needed to get it done on time! On a less positive note, it's pretty bad what the Brazilian government are doing to the Favela near the stadium. It's basically being cleared and flattened to make way for a car park and there have been pretty intense battles (and shoot-outs) between the police and Favela residents not wanting to be forced out of the homes and neighbourhoods in which they have lived for years.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 Already been nabbed by the Germans.. He's only played for the U-19 team. Under modern rules, that means he's still eligible to play for England (if he has a passport), Ghana or Germany at U20, U21, or Senior level.
