DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 I just wondered if anyone can recommend a good pub in the city centre, especially on a Saturday night? I shall be coming up on Friday, and stopping over until Monday. Anyone fancy a pint?
Rincewind Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 what sort of place do you want? A place with decent beer or a place that sells lager and crap keg beer? Depends on your age.

Real Ale, and good company. No punch ups, just harmony. Bringing, one of my other halves (or should it be quarter?)
Godzilla Gorilla Pimp Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 the pub on new walk (think that's what it's called) supposedly very good for real ale yep it is http://www.thepubleicester.co.uk/ People often have a preconceived idea of what to expect when they enter a pub or bar selling a wide selection of real ales and continental beers. The Pub is about to change that image. The Pub boasts the widest range of draught beers in Leicester, with up to 33 different beers available on tap at one time. Sourced from as close as a few miles away to the other side of the world. The Chef in The Pub kitchen offers hungry guests the chance to try a new take on an old favourite, with an ever evolving menu often featuring specials sourced from the local market. With our regular musical soirées it is the perfect place to meet friends and relax.
Rincewind Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Go in there regular although I find the prices a bit high. Not tried the food, expensive for me although it is supposed to be good. On Friday afternoon they had cobs sausage rolls and scotch eggs behind the bar. I had a scotch egg. £2.50. It was OK very spicy and still warm and the egg wasnt fully hard boiled like on normal scotch eggs. They don't normally do this. I believe they offer snacks when the Tigers play. Its more of a rugby place than football. The Slug and Lettuce which is on Hotel Street sometimes have the same beer 50p cheaper. The Salmon Freehouse now sells real ale and has a good selection (Butt Lane) There are two Weatherspoons fairly centra, The Highcross (High Street) and The Last Plantaganet (Granby Street).Other places are The Swan and Rushes, The Criterion and LLoyds in the market. I may have missed a couple out.
Godzilla Gorilla Pimp Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 the last Plantagenet is ****ing horrible haha
Rincewind Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Yes it isn't the best place. Only mentioned it because it was one of two Weatherspoons
