cambridgefox Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 Sorry if this is in the wrong thread so feel free to move. Not being from Leicester and going to more away games than home,i just wondered where most FTs drank before a game and where is best for atmosphere, beer and a good laugh,im coming up for the Peterboring game and staying with a mate in Peterboring(boro fan but has a soft spot for Leicester and been to a lot of games home and away with me) that evening so a relatively short journey home.i used to drink near the old ground that was a bit of a dive and was more like someones front room(walnut street i think) feel free to suggest and say hello to a southerner who sounds like a cockney you wont miss me!
stez Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 plastic cockney! i've not been for a while, but i used to go to the dry dock, and more recently the swan and rushes. both nice, but both very different
Rincewind Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 Swan and Rushes has breal ale and guest beers. Not been in for a while myself. Don't know much about the Dry Dock. I have been in when I felt more inclined to walk mainly in the summer but I usually go for the places that sell a variety of ales with hand pumps. Although I went in the Square and drank Carlsberg at £1 a pint. Across the road in Mollys Tiger was £3.10 which was a night price. Daytime its 2.70 which I thought was a scandel. In the Criterion had a decent pint cost £2.70.
Ilkeston_Fox Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Yeah I tend to go to the Swan and Rushes - usually around the dartboard side. Nice pub with excellent real ales.
The Doctor Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 A fair few hit the Counting House, which is fairly nice, but I recommend the Market Tavern in the city centre (just round the corner from Molly O'Gradys).
The Year Of The Fox Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 F bar is ok for a bit of atmosphere (sings songs) avoid swan n rushes if thats what youre looking for. ive started doing the cheap skates way and buying cans from the spa shop n drinkin em outside the kzakazini bar!
AoWW Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Swan and Rushes is decent. Avoid the F Bar unless you're a Burberry-clad chav. (Which I somehow don't imaging you are, cambridgefox!)
nuttytimmy Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 If you like the Swan & Rushes, etc. then I usually go in the Western off Narborough Road. Always packed on a matchday and the ale's very decent.
John Matrix Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 i think you would like the rainbow and dove. acooling tells me it's very friendly.
STEVIE B Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 Local Hero is pretty good. Prices aren't too bad, decent food. Just been refurbished, can get busy but the service is excellent.
