Jimmy Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 Gallagher won headers AND defended, pull your head out of your arse
funkyrobot Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 Yuki Abe is an incredibly underrated footballer, that is all. A lot would argue that he is an incredibly overrated footballer. Like King.
okie fox Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 Schmeichel -5- Not his usual self Peltier -6- Subdued again Mills -6- Wasteful long passes Bamba -6- Not at his best Koncheskey -6- Started out like he had a hangover -- improved as game went on Schlupp -7- Started off very brightly but faded -- jumps well for his size Abe -7- Did a decent job as defensive midfielder Wellens -6- Slow but not bad. Missed his passing when he went off King -4- Had little impact on the game except near the end when his shot was too close to the keeper Gallagher -6- Good free kick, but drifted in and out of the game as usual Nugent -6- Good header for goal SUBS: Danns -5- No improvement on Wellens -- quicker but can't orchestrate play or make a decent pass Beckford -6- Couple of good runs, but has no concept of defending from the front Dyer -6- Not on for long but was involved in a couple of good moves
The Year Of The Fox Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 Yuki Abe is an incredibly underrated footballer, that is all. He's had two good games this season. Yesterday and Boxing Day. He's overhyped, because he's Japanese IMO
Topman Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 He's had two good games this season. Yesterday and Boxing Day. He's overhyped, because he's Japanese IMO And against Brighton, derby How many good games has King, Wellans and Danns had? Especially King last game, he had like 6 touches the whole game, how can u say it's because his Japanese that people favour him, He is getting slagged off by people because his Japanese!
Cruss5 Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Gallagher won headers AND defended, pull your head out of your arse He didn't win headers at all. You can see how he waits that split second to jump so he is nowhere near winning headers. Watch how schlupp takes a run up to challenge a header. He also didn't defend, tracks back now and then but doesn't defend or attempt to tackle. IMO he is a player i don't like so i might see him differently. But this is a forum with everyone having there own opinion. Maybe your like stringer and have man love for him too
Thracian Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 And against Brighton, derby How many good games has King, Wellans and Danns had? Especially King last game, he had like 6 touches the whole game, how can u say it's because his Japanese that people favour him, He is getting slagged off by people because his Japanese! I couldn't give a shit if he's Martian. I actually quite like the guy - he has an excellent attitude and enthusiasm for the game. But he has no real strengths except his energy. Occasionally there's a moment in a match when he has the chance to be something other than a shunter - a player who goes back and forward pushing the ball this way and that like trucks in a marshalling yard. He gets the chance to shoot or to make a searching pass. It happened against Porstmouth when Gallagher was screaming for simple feed so he could shoot from outside the box. But Abe made the wrong decision and the chance was wasted. The previous game his few more adventurous passes all missed their mark. Whenever he shoots he's slightly off balance and doesn't stay still on the ball but that could be rectified and I actually wonder if he'd be more effective in Wellens place as an attacker at least until we get someone better. But what you have just now is a shunter and not a particularly robust one at that. He doesn't have the strength to be an enforcer or the mind to be a Lennon. His one saving grace is energy, attitude and the ability to play short passes. Danns was only on for a while and nearly gave the game away. King actually featured in three near things for us second half as well as generally retaining possession reasonably well. Wellens was just Wellens. As ever he imposed himself where his team-mates were concerned but not upon the game.
