James. Posted 6 January 2012 Posted 6 January 2012 Going to Wimbledon Dogs tonight. Been a few times before. In those previous vists my betting technique has always followed 2 key principles: 1. Do I like the name of the dog? 2. Where has the dog finished in its last 5 races? I'll be the first to admit this is not the msot advanced or informed method which is why I ask you, the good people of Foxestalk, to give me a crash course in understanding a greyhound race card. Can anyone tell me how I go about deciphering the following? http://www.racingpos...&raceId=1138718 My existing technique above would lead me to choose "Insane Booty"... given the plethora of additional information on the race card is this the right decision? By the way you have 1 hour to reply. Go! Many thanks.
I am Rod Hull Posted 6 January 2012 Posted 6 January 2012 I only ever used to do combination forecasts on the dogs. Pick 3 traps and stay with them all night, its 6 bets per punt - A £1 combination forecast would cost you £6.
Darkon84 Posted 6 January 2012 Posted 6 January 2012 Youre forgetting the classic way of choosing your dog....Which one has the biggest shit before they race

Not that it's ever done me any good.

I used to do the reverse forecast when I was down to shrapnel... Good bet. Never do singles on the dogs unless you have inside info. (which i`v never had)
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 6 January 2012 Posted 6 January 2012 Dont put much on durign the few first races and see which traps win, if the majority is track 4,5,6 then keep backing them. After that I look at the form of traps 4,5,6 and pick a winner. Also if there is a free trap, pick a dog either side of it, gives it more room in case of bumping.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 6 January 2012 Posted 6 January 2012 Dunno how but I won about £70 on them before Xmas
Guest Bilo Posted 6 January 2012 Posted 6 January 2012 Take a look at which traps tend to do well, Traps 3 and 4 require dogs that have a history of starting well otherwise there's a huge risk of them being boxed in. Forecasts and Tricasts lure you in with potentially big payouts, but they are fiendishly difficult to get for the most part. Go for Combinations if you must, then if you pick Traps 1-2-3 for example any combination of those in any order will win you something. Single is the least interesting bet but perhaps the best way of getting a payout. A night at the dogs is more about the fun and social aspect though, don't fret too much about winning like.
