Respect? You're having a laugh!

That trend wasn't evident on Saturday, or indeed in the previous City game.

I was speaking generally and primarily about the Premier league, I thought my earlier post would have made that clear.

If you want a recent example involving City, just look at the first half against 'Boro, who did a fine job of getting in our faces and then as the ref made no effort to curb their over enthusiasm, took their aggression well beyond legal limits.

The ref made no attempt to curb 'Boro's' tactics which led to the frustration and anger of both the team and NFP, who's spat with the referee at half time probably would not have happened had he been calmer.

Typical example of a team being angered by and responding to what they see as biased/incompetent officials. As so often the case, the team that indulges in the provocation gets away with it and the team that responds, however mildly, gets penalised.

How are we supposed to respect referees if they keep making stupid mistakes? Well they're not respecting us are they?

So far this season, whenever we've played away from home, very little of the refereeing decisions have gone our way.

IMO it's because the referees don't know what to do when one of our players commits a foul or is involved in an incident so they have to listen to the home fans, which is when they are influenced into making decisions that they don't want to give. (Bad decisions for us normally)

The Championship was reduced to nine games over the weekend with those at Doncaster, Hull and then Derby being called off, but it was a weekend with no fewer than seven red cards including three at the game between Brighton and Leicester.

Did I read today was our annual Respect fixture - when I say our I mean an intiative forced upon us/the club by the FA.

If we have a referee like we've had in our recent matches he's getting no respect from me, I cannot respect such jobsworths.

The respect campaign is such a farce and seems the FA are only interested in the respect campaign being one sided towards their cherished officials.

It's not just about the refs though, it's about the whole game,

like Pearson telling a fan to "**** off and die"

and players/coaches fighting on the touchline and down the tunnel

Now that's Respect

Respect is earned, not given. I fully recognise that referees have tough jobs, and generally do OK. However, while the FA and PGMOL continue to shield poor refs and not allow any public scrutiny of decisions made, they will never have widespread respect.
