City defender Tom Parkes has agreed a one-month loan move to League 2 side Bristol Rovers.

The 20-year-old centre-back heads to the Memorial Stadium after making a full recovery from an ankle injury that interrupted a loan spell with Burton Albion earlier this term.

Tom, now in his second year as a professional with the Foxes, was recently named as a substitute in City's FA Cup fourth round tie against Swindon Town and has performed impressively for the Club's reserves in recent weeks.

He joins up with fellow City youngster Cian Bolger, who has been on loan with Rovers since the start of the season, and could make his debut this Saturday when the Gas host Morecambe in npower League 2.

Good move for him, to gain more experience and recover from his injury as well. Moving to a good little club as well.

Racist abuse directed at us in league 1 seem to remember?

Hi Leicester fans, just on here to gauge a viewpoint on Parkes. How is he rated in comparison to Bolger? How did he do at his spell at Burton? Can only be good for Leicester getting their two young center backs playing together in league football at young ages regardless of the level.

Edit: Do you think that our clubs are becoming linked in a Parent/Feeder kind of way. Our Chairman has spoke numerous times of our 'good relationship' with yourselves and thats now Bolger, Parkes and Norburn in one season.

Parkes is a good, strong left footed centre back our fans have not seen much of him at first team level but he's always been outstanding for the academy/reserves and Burton seemed like they were desperate to keep him for the rest of the season before he got injured so he's probably been a good performer at league 2 level, any chance of you giving us Carayol the other way?!?

No. Anway, all clubs have fans who will go to a match just to direct abuse at opposition fans regarding anything. I still like Bristol Rovers as a club though, and it seems like we have been feeding them a fair bit this season.

Sounds good.

Carayol is a cracking player and one day i see him having a shot at Championship football, but he still has a lot to learn. Crossing is erratic and he need to vary up his runs/track back more effectively but he definitely has the ability and with good coaching could make the jump. You'll have to give us a little bit more than one or two loans from your academy though! Suprised a Champ club fan has even heard of Carayol though, where did you learn of him?

I did some intern work with a League 2 club earlier this season and he was one of the best players on the pitch when Rovers played them I remember him being absolutely rapid must have been nearly twice as quick as the fastest at that club and I'm assuming you've never seen Paul Gallagher play....that reason alone is why we could do with a player like Carayol!

Never seen Gallagher play but it's quite the step up for L2 to Championship. That being said, it's been done before, look at Adomah at our rivals City. Carayol definitely has the raw ability.

From what i ahve seen of Parkes he looks like he has the potential to develop into a brilliant professional.

How is Bolger doing with you?, cant say that i have seen him play, but heard great reviews.

Players used to make that step up to two leagues above constantly back in the day - and successfully too. Trouble these days is too many foreign imports have hampered such progression being such an attainable thing. While there's no doubting the obvious extra qualities the foreigners bring to our game, it has definitely had a profound affect on the grass roots level in this country as well as youngsters or promising up and coming players such as this guy at Bristol Rovers being touted about on here......

Money permitting I'm off to Rotherham to see the Gas, hopefully he plays.

Loving all the loans to Rovers.

Some of their fans are an utter bunch of pathetic morons, but as for Parkes it will be a useful development in his football career

In fairness i was wrong to say that and have edited my original post since, some of their fans are an "utter bunch of pathetic morons" i suppose like most clubs really and in fairness i actually like Rovers a hell of alot more than i like Shistol Britty lol

To explain why i even think some of their fans are like this goes back to our season in league one when after the home game i had a bunch have a go at me (i was walking alone) whilst walking past the away end to go home, trying to provoke a fight!!!! Sad and pathetic, most of the group looked around the 16-25 sort of age bracket i suppose but that is no excuse

We do have our fair share of idiots, but I think the majority clubs and obviously with you being a bigger club than us they tend to show their idiocy even more. Sure you get the same problem with City.

As for Bolger, he's been good. You can tell he has the ability. He's far, far better when places next to a commanding center half, but that's to be expected with a younger center half. He's good in the air, extremely threatening from corners, isn't too slow for a bigger guy and is a decent tackler. His biggest fault however is his distribution which needs a lot of work, he needs to learn to play simplier. None of his issues are permanent though and with experience and coaching he'll improve loads. It's still only his first full season really.

From what I've seen Bolger's played better with a more experienced, calm centre half next to him, and seemed to be doing alright with Downes. But his injury obviously meant a new man was needed. But from McGhee's interview on the OS, he's almost hinting the two will play together at the heart of the defence. Might work well seen as they'll know each other.

Hope it works out well for the kid and for you. UTG.

And from who I've met and been in ends with at aways, Rovers fans have always seemed a pleasant bunch always up for a laugh and creating a bit of noise.
