Ozwin Posted 21 March 2012 Author Posted 21 March 2012 Been there, hotel was very nice and the weather, beach and restaurants were great, wasn't a huge amount to do though. If you're fairly central there should be a bit more. Wicked, what time of year did you go? We're hoping to go around July/August time.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 21 March 2012 Posted 21 March 2012 I was told never to go there. Mind you, a pair of miserable bastards told me. Is it true they dont have any sandy beaches there?. It's good there. Though I was 10. Melliah Bay had the one sandy beach if I remember. You can go to Gozo and Comino from there on a ferry. The islands 10 miles long so piss easy to get around. Flipping hot there though in july. There's the blue lagoon there, popeyes village, and valletta is quite historical
Haydos Posted 21 March 2012 Posted 21 March 2012 Wicked, what time of year did you go? We're hoping to go around July/August time. Sorry, it wasn't there, it was Play del Ingles, just down the coast. It's where you'll wanting to go out if you want a night out. Maspalomas is really nice as well, good beach, loads of nice restaurants and a massive lighthouse! Yeah, around then too, weather will be 25-35 in the day, not too humid either.

David the Caveman Posted 17 May 2012 Posted 17 May 2012 Looking for a weeks holiday in late September in a similar kind of vein to the OP, what I'm looking for: - 4/5 hour flight max - more or less guaranteed hot sunny weather (25 degrees plus) (in late Sept) - on the coast with at least one beach within walking distance and preferably a couple of others nearby - a smallish, reasonably peaceful town with a good mix of tourist infrastructure and local culture (has to be smaller than Valencia although that does sound really good, just not for this holiday) - a more 'independent' style holiday, as opposed to the package holiday vibe - would love a private villa, but probably can't afford, so the next best thing I guess is an apartment? I was thinking somewhere like Greece/Turkey/Egypt might be a good bet (especially since Greece might be very cheap by then), but there must be some places that fit the bill in Spain/Portugal

Ozwin Posted 17 May 2012 Author Posted 17 May 2012 I don't think we're going to end up doing anything. My mates are lame and keep putting it off. I keep telling them we should go to a travel agents or something and have a look at prices but we never get round to it. It's probably a bit late now.

David the Caveman Posted 17 May 2012 Posted 17 May 2012 Japan ? Bit too far away for this holiday, but Japan is already pencilled in for three weeks in summer 2015. It's one of the few places I've always wanted to visit but haven't got there yet. Argentina is another.

Durnerz Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 As people have mentioned, go to Valencia mate, going back again for the third time in June and never get bored of the place. Delicious food, plenty to see and do, like the City of Arts and Sciences, decent shopping in the centre and at Neuvo Centro (big shopping place) plus its one of the safest cities i've come across with three police forces! Of course you have the Mestalla and Estadio Communale for Levante UD the cities second team. Its worth noting that theres a new train station in Valencia called Joaquin Sorolla which will take you to Madrid on the lovely high speed line in around 2 hours for not mucho moneyo (around £30-50 return booked with RENFE) which is great for a day out in the capital. Also the beaches are lovely and the transport system amongst the best i've been on. Airport to the top of my hotel roof beside the pool took us 45 minutes. Go for it, enjoy!
LcFc_Smiv Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Great suggestions on here! So many places added to where I want to visit, now for the money to magically appear
