Agree 100% with what you say here, you made a decent reply rather than just complete bollocks. I was only ever the innocent fan, I never enjoyed being subject to vicious unprovoked attacks.

However LCFCStu made the specific point that not everybody caught in this stuff was really a complete psycho, from direct personal experience I agree, some people get caught up in a herd mentality and I'd imagine in a sense it's bit of a buzz
