davieG Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 Merc Police are investigating an incident in which thugs apparently attacked a minibus of visiting football supporters after Leicester City's clash with Coventry on Saturday. Video footage of the incident, in Walnut Street, near the King Power stadium, at about 6pm has been posted on website You Tube. Resident John Barratt, 61, who lives in Walnut Street, witnessed the violence. He said: "It was pretty awful. I heard all this commotion outside and ran to the window to see what was going on. "What I saw was a group of youths running in and out among the traffic and shouting obscenities. "They surrounded this white minibus and began booting it and banging on the windows. "I saw what looked like one of the windows being smashed. "It was actually quite upsetting, especially for some of the older residents in the area." A police spokesman said: "Officers stopped a white minibus driving out of the city along Narborough Road. "It had sustained significant damage. No complaint was made by the occupants. However, the incident in Walnut Street is being investigated and inquiries are ongoing." Leicester's 2-0 win was marred by ugly scenes in the away end of the King Power stadium. One man was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Five people were arrested at the game and seven fans ejected from the stadium. Anyone with information about the minibus attack, or those responsible, is asked to contact the police by dialling 101.

pSinatra Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 Not sure what the police will be able to do with it? Not a lot to see. Just a load of schoolkids embarrassing themselves & Leicester
Burmesefox Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 Honour amongst hooligans? Not really to be honest - just depended on the hooligans mood and situation. Fans steaming in to the opposing fans end...not very selective or indescriminate. I saw a lot of fighting in the period 82-88 where we are talking about 600 odd fans flighting and if you got caught up in it you were going to get a slap no matter what, it was utter chaos. In the early to mid eighties there were lots of firms within the baby squad all with their own generals and agenda. City had the baby squad and the YBS, the latter had a lot of black lads from highfields I seem to recall. Then there was D Company?, the market traders. the Coalville boys etc. Then you had fans that would turn up or chance meet with the hardcore. Whilst the cells may have had a planned agenda the bulk of thrill seakers didnt - they just followed the "fun". Yes some meets were organised but others consisted of various gangs looking to find each other and if they didnt then innocent fans got a kicking or bullying instead. Regardless of what they may say about the rules in reality there were very few and if you were in the wrong place at the wrong time you were in serious trouble.

I was only ever the innocent fan, I never enjoyed being subject to vicious unprovoked attacks. However LCFCStu made the specific point that not everybody caught in this stuff was really a complete psycho, from direct personal experience I agree, some people get caught up in a herd mentality and I'd imagine in a sense it's bit of a buzz

If you had 300 leicester running at 300 Spurs then you could say that out of that 300, 50 would be proper hardcore, another 50 known associates and the rest there for the buzz; many of whom didn't actually get to throw a punch.

cardifflee Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 Sad fvckers. maybe but the lads in the mini bus jumped out before this footage and gave 2 or 3 leicester fans a few slaps thats why the mini bus got atacked
NeilyBoy Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 maybe but the lads in the mini bus jumped out before this footage and gave 2 or 3 leicester fans a few slaps thats why the mini bus got atacked Explains the "no complaint was made by the occupants" part of the article... My 1st thought was "who has the window of their minibus kicked in and doesn't complain to the cops?" So in summary some sad fvckers from Coventry aggravated some sad fvckers from Leicester and lost a window, while some guy in a Galaxy decides to back up and give them more kicking room. Ps. I've tried editing many times and that random line-jump keeps reappearing

Absolutely - the whole idea that it was just between firms is total and utter shite. A whole number of times it didn't even matter which team you were supporting...but the worst was the police. For those who think they're bad now I can recall so many times when I was beaten or attacked by horse or dog simply for being a fan. I've no respect for anyone who used to be in a firm or claims they are now.
1964FOX Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 maybe but the lads in the mini bus jumped out before this footage and gave 2 or 3 leicester fans a few slaps thats why the mini bus got atacked Yes you are correct the occupants of the mini bus were looking for trouble all day, tried it on with a few of my mates in the Counting House, I suppose some would call it karma but scenes like those on the video are just not acceptable, as some say makes all Leicester and look bad.
